TWITTER YE MAY.

I'm sure if Frankie Howerd were still alive, twittering would have become a useful subject for his humorous mickey taking.

The recently relinquished moral high ground of what we called the free world, the western nations, has irrevocably slid beyond the pale. We can put this down to whatever suits one's standpoint. The media, particularly television, has much for which to answer i.e the violence therein which is generally associated with bad language. It is the overflow of the expletives that could be doing the most damage, along with the misuse of the most universal of languages. We have to speak to a foreigner, in most cases, to listen to English being spoken correctly.

Many of the verbal responses from the recently successful pupils, following their A's and A*'s, was pathetic to say the least. Their vocabulary appeared as a hybrid, mixing all the worst words from a number of pathetic TV programmes. Surprisingly, some of the these students had acquired good grades in English. How can this be so?

We can safely summise from the evidence which surrounds us, that youngsters are influenced by the media rather than education. We have work to do.

YADDA-YADDA SHOULD SOON BE IN GENERAL USE !

A MUCH DARKER SHADE OF GREEN.

Sitting here writing this post, assisted by a mixture of torch and candle light, for anyone who might be interested, the following are a few of my beliefs.

I believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny; I believe for every drop of rain that falls a flower grows; I believe in proper beer, football, cricket, music, democracy; above all ........

SIXTY ONE MILLION + AND COUNTING.

The population on the comparatively confined land space that is Britain is now far beyond figures that can be sustained. We can safely assume that we are not being told the true number, particularly of illegal immigrants. Official figures always avoid the facts.

Surely there are a few intelligent people out there who, along with the author, are concerned about this massive over-population problem? The excess is not made up of people subscribing to the cause; they are in many cases, 'on the take'; they overwhelm the GB taxpayer financed NHS, Education system and Social Services. This is a similar arrangement that has pervaded the EU over the years; those that give against those that take. I've never been convinced that recipients should get a vote. We can no longer afford this fanciful nonsense. We could well be past the point, whereby the takers (should we include pensioners and children?) are a larger proportion than the subscribers. This on top of the benefits being paid to people, be it legal or illegal. All this revenue has to be produced before it can be distributed. So what does this gormless government do? It keeps increasing taxes. This only helps the exchequer, but more critically, it keeps reducing the overall spending power of the general public. Since we are not creating new wealth, the end result means that as a nation, we go bust.

What kind of fool allows this to happen? Socialists excepted. If, as expected, next year we could have a Conservative administration, don't expect much of a change, as they will also play to the gallery, consisting of mostly 'takers'.

WE NEED RADICAL, LOGICAL THINKERS.

THE MAYOR OF DONCASTER(BRIDGE).

At last, the voting public is stirring. Peter Davies, the recently appointed Mayor of the South Yorkshire town of Doncaster, well known for favouring any socialist regime opted for an English Democrat. Be aware you Tories, the fringe parties are on the march.

The appointment is well received in these pages as he seems to be on course for what we have been advocating from the outset, greater democracy. A Magna Charta moment; listening to the people rather than Brussels.

It's heart warming that, in some corners of Britain, the electorate want rid of the system designed as a massive job creation scheme. Within weeks, said Mayor has severed links with around five twinned cities/towns, explaining that free trips for council staff to these destinations has to stop, unless the taxpayer can also have similar perks. No more funding for Gay Pride occasions, this being a minority funded by the majority, all sections have to be funded equally. We can add to the hit list, posts that we would call 'jobsworths'. He also points to the fact that Gypsies have more rights than the indigenous population.

Mr. Davies makes comparisons with, for example, Philadelphia, USA, population: 1.2 million, has only 17 councillors. He therefore wishes to reduce Doncaster's by approximately two thirds. This is dynamite!

We understand that, in doing these things, he has cut his salary from £73,000 to £30,000 and got rid of his official car, as he is happy travelling on public transport, where presumably, he is nearer to the people and their feelings. This man is a breath of fresh air.

SO IS IT GOOD, BAD OR UGLY?

The conundrum of our time, the NHS. The love that we appear not to want to debate. Well it's high time that we did.

The good: This week saw the author responding to a request from his GP to visit his surgery regarding a high cholesterol reading, subject to a recent blood test; this was followed by a routine visit to the Eye Clinic, keeping tabs on an ongoing eye condition. Finally, having a further blood test with regard to haemochromatosis. On each occasion the treatment was excellent; the author being kept informed of all situations.

The bad: Why is it, therefore, that we learn from the Office of National Statistics this week, that in the last five years, around 30,000 patients have died from a combination of MRSA AND C.diff.

The ugly: Also this week, I'm informed by a relation, that her mother was admitted to hospital with a respiratory condition; on admission she was given oxygen. Two days later she has developed a serious infection in her nose; this is presumed to have emanated from the oxygen mask. On enquiries, my relation is informed by the ward that the problem is E.coli. Confronting the specialist a few days later, it transpires that the condition is, in actual fact, MRSA, which has affected the kidneys. All this misleading charade is being acted out all over Britain on a daily basis.

In addition: Noted from a letter to the press this week, information from a former NHS employee. The work force is designed to withstand absenteeism and if everyone turned up for work, then there wouldn't be enough to occupy them.

THIS IS OUR MONEY THAT WE ARE WASTING.

NHS: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY.

As a regular patient of the National Health Service it would be churlish of me not to give it some plaudits, as I'm treated exceptionally well, enjoying a good relationship with my GP, my eye doctor and the staff at the Venesection facility, the latter I refer to as my personal vampires. The condition haemochromatosis requires the extraction of blood, to keep the ferritin (iron) at a respectable level. Genuinely, none of this is patronisation. Why shouldn't we enjoy this service, we are paying through the nose for it.

We cannot, however, ignore the cases where patients complain. MRSA and C-Dif are not myths. To live in denial of such occurrences is completely foolish. Labour Governments love to make a big deal of the NHS, which long ago was turned into a political football. Cameron equally espouses that he considers it to be the most important thing in politics. So be prepared to throw even more money, which we haven't got, at it. Incidentally, the most important aspect of politics is to make sure that we can afford these things.

Recently, awaiting an appointment at a brand new treatment centre, I was discussing the facility with a fellow patient, who, unfortunately, couldn't understand when I explained to him that the emporium was not paid for; not even noted anywhere as a debt. Just one of the many lies perpetuated by New Labour. Add to this a favourite topic in previous postings, the thousands of abortions carried out annually for reasons of convenience. Heaven knows how much treatment for the rest of the world costs, coming to Britain with rare diseases.

Enter Daniel Hannan: The writer can take to this man quite easily, not necessarily agreeing with all his views, but the fact that he has opened up a debate, that is if we can get beyond ridiculing these views, which the left is using as a way to get at Cameron. They are so pathetic.
Hannan's comments on US television are a revelation, inasmuch as he is pointing to the downside, and there is always a downside, particularly in throwing OPM (other peoples money) about. Having lived in denial with regard to the importing of millions of unwanted immigrants to Britain, many illegal, who naturally benefit from our contributions. On this note, when in the USA last year, the writer pointed out that half of Mexico would endeavour to decamp to the States, should they go down the NHS route.

THE NHS MUST BE REMOVED FROM POLITICS.

GERMAN AND FRENCH OUTPUT, SHOULD WE SMELL A RAT?

As any moderately bright observer would know, Germany and France will emerge from the current economic doldrums much quicker than here in GB. The reason being, that our debt is far greater than their's. However, we can rest assured that much fudging is going on. Their scrappage schemes are due to end sooner, rather than later. They, sensibly, don't rely upon property purchase that gives Brits a false sense of wealth. By the time our property bubble burst, an educated guess would suggest that houses were changing hands at around twice their logical price. Neither Germany nor France pursues this stupidity. We will, therefore, have to wait much longer than our main competitors, as the debt factor won't disappear in a cloud of smoke.

It would also be correct to observe that neither will Germany or France's debt, although much smaller, become non-existent overnight. The increase in growth figures are more than likely sinister, giving the impression that the EU is in good shape.

TAMIFLU, THE NEW PANDEMIC.

When we have a government as useless as the current administration, one can only expect it to be sticking it's nose into every situation, floundering all over the place, turning a problem into a gigantic disaster. This is a trick of politicians, giving the impression that they are doing us all good. The problem naturally gets out of hand, as with global warming/climate change, they have to perpetuate the lies. So swine flu could well be in a similar category: a scare story, which has been turned into a job creation scheme for novices, with the supposed cure causing as much mayhem as the illness.

NON-THIRSTY VEGETABLES, THE BREAKTHROUGH.

Just when you think that all the morons are away on their summer break, Hilary Benn appears on our TV screens to announce that we will be sloshing about in much more water, as the boffins are now producing fruit and vegetables that will thrive on the minimum of moisture. If only these simpletons would observe the weather rather than the deficit they have created. All such research would naturally have cost us millions of pounds. They so obviously should have been looking at growth that requires more water, which would help get rid of all this summer's rain.

We can only suppose that the same team will next be engaged in advanced blotting paper technology.

GLUG, GLUG.

IF ONLY THIS WERE AN OUTBREAK OF DEMOCRACY.

The Conservative Party appears, on the surface, to have engaged in an outbreak of democracy in selecting their candidate for the constituency of Totnes, Dr. Sarah Wollaston. To have someone from the medical profession will be an asset. However, is it misleading when undoubtedly this short list was vetted by Cameron? In which case is he looking only for voting fodder. Let's hope not. I recall a comment from former doctors of mine, a husband and wife partnership. Before the 1997 General Election, just prior to her retirement, the wife in the practice imparted to me, that if Labour got in, they would destroy the NHS. The service can so obviously benefit from some new clear thinking, let us therefore hope that Dr Wollaston, if elected, can bring such things about.

It is apparent, nevertheless, that the democracy which is so alive in Totnes is not being duplicated in Rutland and Melton, where Alan Duncan seems to be hanging on against the will of the local Conservative Party.

COME ON CAMERON, IT'S TIME TO 'SLAM DUNCAN'.

ONE DIM MALE, ONE DIM FEMALE ETC.

Harriet Harwoman needs to be reminded that this is what we have in the governance of Britain, under New Labour. The only brains within this outfit sit on the Backbenches. Promotion in recent years has been subject to quotas, irrespective of IQ.

How can anyone, who thinks logically in the current economic circumstances, even contemplate the pursuit of this nonsense. We only have to review what has passed in recent years: characters who wouldn't even be allowed to make the tea have been in charge of major government departments.

These comments are aimed at both genders.

DAVID CAMERON PLEASE NOTE.

THE TAKING OF A LIFE.

Can we gauge the mentality of a country, when a plaintiff can bring a case to court with a view to changing the law which has seen us in good stead, probably for centuries? To bring about such changes regarding assisted suicide is not some kind of game, to which one responds as though having scored the winning goal in a world cup final. Our laws have proved to be a great prop for our stable society, that is , until recent years. The decision by the Law Lords was to 'pussy foot' around yet another subject where the public could be heading for the lowest common denominator. Having been passed the buck, the new Supreme Court will have to make a ruling whether or not the assistant is prosecuted.

We can cast our minds back to to the easing of restrictions on abortion. To have an abortion now is virtually a party trick, costing taxpayer GB a mountain of money. Add to this the pot smokers and coke snorters making recommendations for the easing of the law on drug abuse. We can see in which direction we are headed.

It is not difficult to see where the case for assisted suicide is verging on the legitimate. These however, are not the instances we should be discussing. It's when abuse rears it's ugly head, hiding behind the newly illuminated green light.

ON TRACK FOR A MAMMOTH OVERSPEND.

In an earlier posting CROSSED TRAM LINES 12/7, the author spoke of the disgraceful waste of money, regarding the proposed second phase of the Nottingham city tram system. Those electors interested in how New Labour throws your money around, be prepared to put your hands in your pockets, as this gormless outfit has promised £530 million of taxpayer GB's money to assist with the funding. This is before the increases mount. One can suppose that this is chicken feed when added to debts totalling hundreds of billions.

The week started with a brief committee of enquiry, raising the point of the opposition from Nottingham industry, which is obliged to charge it's employees to park within their place of work, in an endeavour to defray the cost of running this white elephant. This point was soon overcome, having been included as window dressing only. As we know, trams run on tracks, which limits their route to a finite degree, and at best can only serve those nearest to it's stopping points. The scheme, however, involves all work parking within the city limits. It doesn't take into account anyone working nights, when no trams will be running.

One of the largest employers on the perimeter of the city is Boots. Their main car park falls within the city boundary. They have the opportunity to build a new parking area outside or, alternatively, pick up their ball and put roots down elsewhere, since they are no longer a British company. Multiply this a few times, and we can begin to imagine what it could do to the the local economy.

Add to this the fact that many of the tram users avoid paying their dues; not to mention that the public is placing itself into the hands of the unions.

A RECIPE FOR DISASTER.
