STALINISM AT THE MET.

This isn't a new opera by Felix Mandelson, or is it?

The less than convincing response given by Douglas Alexander on last Thursday's Question time. "Me Sir, no Sir, not I Sir" could be a give-away on the Government's position regarding the arrest of arch traitor Tory MP Damian Green charged with disclosures to the public i.e taxpayer GB, on the subject of national security and the carelessness of our dozy Government, who certainly don't wish to be seen displaying even more ineptitude.

Students of history should be well aware of The Speaker's role in the House of Commons, to uphold complete impartiality, protecting the rights of representatives of the public to voice concerns of slack government. By allowing the Metropolitan Police to seize documents and computers containing confidential constituents' information must be considered a crime of the highest order. Please don't accept that the police force is a controlling arm of the Government. It is but a uniformed part of the public, there purely for the our protection, not an arm to quell someone who exposes Ministers' short-comings; anymore than we should accept the BBC as it's broadcasting arm in order to spread it's bile.

Should we want to live in a country in which we are obliged to do the 'will of Gordon', a Scot' with his own Parliament? Then continue to vote for the present government, or return to freedom of speech, insisting on our right to debate subjects such as global warming/greenfield sites for housing development. Continually to be left out when a Quango is imposing areas for travellers to settle? Let us ensure that they must always be adjacent to Quango members' residences. The last item raised an interesting situation recently in Cambridgshire. It was reported that a resident refusing to pay £60 for a council supplied wheelie bin, purchased one from the manufacturer in Germany (we obviously don't have the technology to produce our own) for the grand total of £30. Naturally, his dictatorial local authority refused to take his rubbish away, subsequently he left his bin along with others at a Gypsy camp site, you've guessed it, the bin was emptied.

MANY HEADS MUST ROLL AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN GOT TO ID CARDS!

GIVE-AWAY OR TAKE-AWAY?

Just a little of the first but endless amounts of the second. The budget announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer at the beginning of last week was, as expected, a smoke and mirrors stunt. The writer will not be joining the rest of the nation to make a saving on VAT. It continues to be an anathema, that a Government wishes us all to purchase items which are, in the main, manufactured abroad solely for the tax generated. The problem will be the added debt accrued by some, taking much of the forthcoming year to clear, if they can afford it.

If the Government could show the same enthusiasm, by assisting our sparse manufacturing sector to be more competitive, we wouldn't be in this near bankrupt state. Encouraging millions of immigrants to fill jobs at lower than the minimum wage has only made the situation worse, due to the enormous welfare overheads. Some folk come to Britain just for free health care. However, the thought of a good education is a dream too far.

IF WE EVENTUALLY HAVE TO PAY £1000 FOR A LOAF, CONSIDER YOURSELVES TO BE SLOW LEARNERS.

BRING ON THE MEN IN WHITE COATS.

Gormless government continues to wreak havoc in the halls around what was once our seat of governance, Westminster. It has already been pointed out, that this bedraggled shower of halfwits is well on the road to bankrupting the nation. The time has arrived when we stop playing at the notional theory that socialism will make all our lives better, when it is patently obvious that we are slipping into the third world in considerable haste. When the people controlling the purse strings are acting in a similar fashion to the irresponsible (of which there are many), who operate with endless credit cards, strolling around continuously on their mobile 'phones, with not a cat in hells' chance of settling the subsequent debt, then we have an enormous problem. How can a Government, with a staff of thousands, including that 'white elephant' the Financial Services Authority, stand by and ignore the gathering storm clouds, while much of the public i.e tax payer GB, was aware of the problem a few years ago?

Chewing old fat however is not going to help. Where and how do we save money? This is what any economy is obliged to do, whether it is family, club, institute, business and even Government. Spend now pay later, the preferred socialist way, is not an option. So what is?

If we take the NHS for example, any foreigners entering the country should not be given free treatment if they have not contributed towards it, i.e worked for a substantial period of time, a period that is acceptable to the indigenous taxpayer GB. Any member of the public who, after over-indulging in alcohol with intent (this is easy to spot), should only gain access to medical help by first making a payment of - let us say £500.

Education: I'm sure that considerable time and money is wasted on contraception. This has got to be put back where it belongs, a parental concern. It has been mentioned before in this blog, that in other parts of the EU, not that we should be looking elsewhere for examples, young mothers should not be the responsibility of the state, but of the parents of the mother and father, the grandparents. The overwhelming population needs to be trimmed dramatically by at least 10 million for a start, which would help reduce the so-called carbon emissions, due to less waste. Until we take such steps, the Chancellor of the Exchequer can forget about any recovery in the nation's finances. We can't expect the wealth producers to stay in order to be taxed at every turn, this being viewed from the perspective of a pensioner. The Government is still failing to think in terms of saving, having already spent the nation's reserves and more.

The nation belongs to the people, not to this backward Government. We have got to make it clear to politicians of any party, that the nation is getting restless. Do not let yourself be bought off by inept, self-serving clowns. In actual fact, we are due for far more tax reductions than have been announced. Darling is, however, starting in the wrong area. It's the thousands of non jobs in local authority that must go, along with their fanciful pensions funded by us, the Plebs. Start thinking on these things. Should Brown and his cohorts be facing charges for his mishandling of our economy, not to mention lying about a promised referendum? It's time to scare the living daylights out of this rabble. We can do it.

NORTHERN IRELAND IS DUMBING DOWN.

To align itself with mainland Britain, Ulster erases the 'eleven plus' from their schools curriculum. It would be difficult to consider this move to be beneficial, as is obvious from the results of education in general, our universities generally complaining of the lack of acceptable English Language and Mathematics. What is even more unbelievable, the politicians have yet to decide upon an alternative. Presumably all pupils will be considered to have equal academic ability.

THE 'SHANGRI-LA' THAT IS SOCIALISM.

PRESIDENT ELECT TURNS PINK.

An interesting item in one of the recent news reports from the US, by a professor from one of their leading universities, suggests that Obama appears to be adopting European Socialist theories. Well let us make it abundantly clear to the learned gentleman, that this is the reason for his elevation to the White House. Many of his supporters will be from a faction that has never voted in the past, seeing in the soon to be inaugurated President, the 'something for nothing' theory. A system well tried in the UK, pushing our economy into an ever increasing black hole. Should Obama take this route, they will ultimately follow us into the third world. As the brighter 'Brit' understands, such theories of bypassing conventional economic practices in an endeavour to seek short term political gain will only sideline the problem temporarily.

His additional step backwards will be to appoint the Hill' half of 'The Washington Hill Billies'. Surely the recent history of 'Clintonville' should be fresh enough in the minds of most of us. Here we have a classic example of reversing to the period when the two of them attained their dream of 'White House Dwellers'. No doubt their status was acquired through years of wheeling and dealing. Rather like socialists in Europe, they would not have had enough talent to succeed in business, so the way to get ahead was to awaken envy in the less well off sector, which can give you the easiest of 'meal tickets' to succeed in politics. But as in sport, for example, someone is always left stranded at the bottom. The Clintons probably loved and overlooked 'sub prime' mortgages, which we are constantly reminded about in Britain as the reason for our financial woes. Our problem was caused by the Financial Services Authority, (a Brown sideshow), which prevented the Bank of England from overseeing the subsequent bad banking practices over here. The main concern, however, if what we hear is true, is that Hillary Clinton is to be made Secretary of State. Should this be true, then we have all got a problem. The Sapphist will only return us to the days of abject diversity, political correctness, plus any other downside of more theories. This reduced what we considered to be the old Western Order, turning it into the laughing stock of the 90's. A weakness that is now irrevocable.

BOY GEORGE GROWS UP.

As Gormless Gordon traverses the globe with his 'floating dice game', desperately hoping for a double six with a view to saving his own skin rather than the world's economy, George Osbourne learns to go for the jugular. We like it. The author was disconcerted with the latter's activities over the summer, when he was consorting with a Russian associated with our own Lord Sleazeball. Well here's a tip, Ivan loves playing cat and mouse with bait like the former European Trade Commissioner; in current parlance, never go there! One must learn to bite the opposition's legs, giving the impression that one is prepared to bite one's own if necessary.

The Shadow Chancellor must grasp the nettle and keep exposing the PM for his ongoing stupidity, because it is becoming clear that 'Call me Darling' is not aligned with his backward master. This is particularly interesting as the Chancellor appears to be light years ahead of GG (Gormless Gordon).

The significant point here is the value of the pound and the affect it has on our imports. Well we don't have to go further than the amount that we spend on oil; oil being sold on the dollar, as we look to reduce the pound's value by lowering our interest rates further, we can't expect petrol prices to go down, very soon they will be on the rise again. An even more frightening thought is that the Governor of the Bank of England is running with GG. Some will remember that he was one of the dimwits who wrote to the Times back in the 80s, opposing what turned out to be the correct policies of Margaret Thatcher.

If by the way it is true that our Shadow Chancellor, as has been suggested, has been dumbing down his accent, all he has to do is show tenacity.

THERE IS NO MILEAGE IN 'BLUE RINSE SOCIALISM'.

IT'S THE WAY BROWN TELLS 'EM.

Our illustrious, world saving PM has rarely mentioned the word tax in the twelve years, come next spring, that his party has been squeezing every ounce of cash from the economy and more when including the borrowed amount. What was happening during the 'age of change' should have been clear from the start, we do not generate enough money within the economy to live the life of proflegacy that has been top of the agenda, both privately and publicly. The way in which many people took chances with their personal finances has shown a total lack of responsibility. It was, however, encouraged by this Government as it has continued on it's way, spending money that in many cases didn't exist. Nevertheless, Brown feels it appropriate to dangle the bait with tax cuts; now being able to mention the word tax in association with cuts. This is only a sop of course to sound the way for a snap election, as mentioned previously.

So where does all the money go? We know that the borough of Haringey receives plenty, which sadly is money thrown away. Incidently, Cameron performed exceptionally well at PMQ's this week regarding the disgraceful failure of the borough authorities in not preventing what is far worse than any maltreatment of war prisoners; not that the writer condones these alleged misdemeanors. The Government benches were displaying their customary ignorance regarding the situation. We will subsquently be informed that lessons will be learned from this case. Why should we believe this to be the situation, this hasn't happened in the past.

Let us take the Haringey failures and multiply this many times. Not all social service departments are irresponsible, but what is the state doing pretending to be the best parent for the job? It isn't only socialism that has fallen for this type of central control. If the opposition wish to impress, they must make loud noises about a return to a well balanced family life, with the discipline starting at home. This, naturally, means backing the traditional family unit and not single parents, particularly irresponsible ones living off the state (this is after we have paid via our taxes for endless birth control).

DOES SITTING BULL EVEN CONSIDER MAKING SAVINGS HERE? YOU BET HE DOESN'T.

IGNORANT GB.

Further to comments in the last posting, in the latest edition of 'Question Time', one of the questions referred to a suggestion by Boris Johnson for more youngsters to join the Scout/Guide Movements. I'm sure most readers are aware that these organisations were initiated early last century and have been a success story throughout the world. Why is it, therefore, that within the audience, we had to listen to sniggers?

I suppose from a socialist led decline into the third world, we can expect little better.

EMBARRASSING DON'T YOU THINK?

BROWN BOUNCES BACK LIKE A BAD CHEQUE.

In the week when every European politician wishes to be Barack Obama's best friend, Incapability Brown gives us the impression that an election result in his favour, on his own political doorstep, has happened because he is throwing mountains of our money at a problem he has failed to arrest. I wonder, for example, if the good people of Halifax are enjoying the closure of their major employer, retaining the Bank of Scotland HQ in Edinburgh. This was always going to be the problem with having a PM who is not one of the majority.

In addition to the elections this week, both here and abroad, we have experienced a panic reduction in the interest rate. An absolute disaster for the saver. Almost every dimwit in Westminster, irrespective of party, appears to want to go down this blind alley, to return to massive borrowing to give the impression of wealth. This will only push the problem further away for the time being, to be confronted by our children and grandchildren. This attitude towards 'smoke and mirror' economics has also made thousands of savers flee the UK, taking their cash with them to a safer haven, knowing very well that our Labour Government considers our savings to be their's for the taking, something at which it is most adept. On this week's 'Any Questions' Jack 'the last' Straw mentioned that a business in his constituency was having trouble with it's bank regarding an overdraft facility. Get used to it, as this question will be asked on a regular basis. Of course we don't know whether or not the firm in Blackburn is viable. The decision must be that of the bank alone. Changing one's bank is not yet illegal, hopefully, should you want better terms. The last thing we need is Parliament acting as a High street bank advisory service, making decisions regarding non-existent money, All the money is ours, or will be on our account, remember!

Last evening on BBC Four we saw, repeated, an episode from an Alistair Cooke series on America. The period on show included the years approaching the Wall Street Crash, followed by Roosevelt's initial decisions to get their economy back on track. He adopted a Maynard Keynes theory by taking total control of all banking and production, a method running simultaneously by Hitler, another disciple of the theory. In the case of the USA, the Supreme Court intervened, deeming the practice was not in accordance with the Constitution. Subsequently free trade saved the day and of course WWII had a part to play. Britain did not follow either Roosevelt or Hitler in this regard. In fact, probably the only Labour MP to champion the theory was Oswald Mosley, departing to form his own Fascist Party in the footsteps of his idol, Adolf Hitler.

Should the incapable Gordon Brown spend more taxpayer GB cash on his little fancies, don't expect us ever to recover. The recession will arrive whatever he does. He should have considered us from day one, not almost twelve years later, leaving us to pick up the tab.

BUDGET TAX CUTS AND FLASH ELECTION IN 09, SUBJECT TO UNEMPLOYMENT LEVELS.

A WATER-SHED FOR DEMOCRACY.

As a septuagenarian with a life long feeling for both jazz and the blues, the author still shudders at the sound of Billie Holiday's recording of 'Strange Fruit' and Louis Armstrong singing and playing the classic Waller/Razaf piece 'Black and Blue' "I'm white inside but that don't help my case" etc., Likewise, films of man's inhumanity to man, depicted dramatically in 'To Kill a Mocking Bird'/ 'Heat of the Night'/ 'Mississippi Burning; the disgraceful murder of Medgar Evers and many others. These atrocities will, hopefully, start to fade into history, although, like the casualties of war, must never be forgotten. Well, this week the USA made a start. Fittingly in the shape of an African American.

It may, however, be sentiment that got Barack Obama to the White House but it will have to be much more than that to make him successful. Only time will give us the answer. If he pursues what would appear to be his socialist agenda to the full, we can only expect our own economy to be hit even harder than we are about to witness. As we know to our detriment, the NHS sucks in hundreds of thousands of immigrants to sponge off the Taxpayer GB funded service. He will obviously be aware of this possibility, which will trigger civil unrest of a different kind. Very tough. He must also perform far better than the most recent Democratic administrations of Carter and Clinton. The latter leaving us with what became the 'credit crunch', along with a very unstable world which we can probably connect to political correctness. The US diplomacy of the nineties subscribed to this with gusto. The docudrama 'The path to 9/11', with Harvey Keitel, told a vivid story of world terrorism, based on fact, gave credence to this. The West, and Obama in particular, must not go back down that route.

From a conservative viewpoint, what of the political up side? He certainly looks and, up to now, acts the part. To coin an American metaphor, let's hope he doesn't 'wet the bed'.

HE IS ALSO HALF WHITE. WE WISH HIM WELL!

WRINKLYS' RADIO.

For many years leading to my retirement and beyond, the dream of having a radio programme was paramount, to share a substantial record collection with a group of listeners of similar ilk. A few years ago I was invited to be a guest on our local BBC radio station, something that went pretty well, being treated perfectly by the programme host. We played a few tracks and were rewarded by some excellent 'phone responses. The management, however, could see no way to encourage a local record presenter an opportunity to share the fruits of this considerable collection. It was assumed that the majority of listeners only wish to hear what is being broadcast on all the other stations. Perhaps one needs to have celebrity status, which in most cases has nothing to do with expertise regarding the subject.

My particular collection is tunes of the early to mid 20th. century. Jerome Kern/Irving Berlin/ Rodgers & Hart/Gershwin Bros./Cole Porter/Hoagy Carmichael, the list goes on and on. There was so much creativity in a period of four or five decades that probably will never be matched. Thousands of simple but lasting, memorable songs. Kern invented the style, departing from an Austrian/Hungarian format to something typically American, going on to write the music of the first musical to be based upon a novel. The show is, of course, Show Boat. At the other end of the spectrum is Hoagy Carmichael, who wrote the tune Star Dust, probably the most recorded song of all time. These talented artists and their contemporaries came up with thousands of these gems which I have in my collection, performed by equally capable entertainers. The very essence of this art is the fact that modern technology has given us a lasting memory. What do we get coming from our loudspeakers? Something recorded a few days ago. The crux of all this is, that for some unknown reason, a public service broadcaster indulges all this wall to wall dross for most of the day.

All is not lost, however, as 103 The Eye, a community radio station in Melton Mowbray, gives me the opportunity to let a limited audience hear some of these masterpieces.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH WRINKLY MUSIC?

THE CROSSROADS.

It's decision time.

If only we had politicians who acted for the survival of the nation rather than themselves. Anywhere we look this country is in serious trouble. Socialism is never better than a theory aimed at conning the masses, that we can all live happily ever after, paid for by somebody else. The more people borrow the happier we all will be. Hands up those who were taught this notion by their parents? I thought as much! You can't blame the backward people in government for this if you voted for them. They can all masquerade looking important, when all that they are doing is rubber stamping laws passed in Brussels by unelected busybodies. Brown and company are on their third term, working hard trying to convince us that, by using shed- loads of Taxpayer GB's cash, they can salvage their own jobs. Let us, therefore, consider the track record of the Labour party in Government. One term only is enough to turn the economy into a tailspin. Brown's current trip, panhandling in the oil rich states of the Middle East being his latest ploy, trying to convince us what a talented person he is. Just remember that his awesome tax regime caused this economic disaster.

The BBC is another area where the public is obliged to pay. Why on earth do we have to finance all these radio and TV stations; what is public service radio doing with Radio 1 & 3? Surely we can do without a number of the TV channels. Considerable cuts are necessary. We have, in all walks of life, to pull in our horns. We must not let this moment be lost.

In the USA, as they are about to elect their next president should it have slipped your notice, they cannot afford an incumbent of the White House promising the world, when he won't have more than two dollars to rub together.

So, as Brits, what do we do? We could of course ask Lewis Hamilton for a loan. Well done to him.

What the PM wishes us to do, however, is borrow the money (our money), generously given to the banks, in order to tax us again on any financial activity. This would exacerbate the situation even more, by which time he will be long gone, living the life of Larry on a fat pension. Unless of course we put a block on it.

THE GOVERNMENT STILL CANNOT UTTER THE WORD SAVE!
