GIVE-AWAY OR TAKE-AWAY?

Just a little of the first but endless amounts of the second. The budget announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer at the beginning of last week was, as expected, a smoke and mirrors stunt. The writer will not be joining the rest of the nation to make a saving on VAT. It continues to be an anathema, that a Government wishes us all to purchase items which are, in the main, manufactured abroad solely for the tax generated. The problem will be the added debt accrued by some, taking much of the forthcoming year to clear, if they can afford it.

If the Government could show the same enthusiasm, by assisting our sparse manufacturing sector to be more competitive, we wouldn't be in this near bankrupt state. Encouraging millions of immigrants to fill jobs at lower than the minimum wage has only made the situation worse, due to the enormous welfare overheads. Some folk come to Britain just for free health care. However, the thought of a good education is a dream too far.

IF WE EVENTUALLY HAVE TO PAY £1000 FOR A LOAF, CONSIDER YOURSELVES TO BE SLOW LEARNERS.
