WELFARE (in a) STATE.

The world appears to be celebrating the possibility that we could have passed the 7billion mark in population. What this means, in actual fact, is that we are not learning any lessons. We can't keep expanding, out of control; resources will be unable to cope. However, the biggest problem for Britain is that we attract many of them to come and live off our benefits system.

What we never hear from Government is the breakdown regarding immigration, said to be around 500,000 annually; that is the known figure. How many immediately find work? The cost of education, health, plus the good old stand by, benefits, will no doubt far outstrip any returns from earnings. Which begs the question: How far will the British Welfare State stretch in looking after the welfare of people, who, in many cases, have not contributed? The answer, of course, is simple; we are far beyond the point of no return. This expense is exacerbated, due to the amount of money sent abroad, all of it borrowed.

The Welfare State, as we know it, cannot survive. Endless aspects covered by the NHS will have to be dispensed with. We will need to get young people used to working for a living again, otherwise they will have little or no future, and why should they. These things will happen because our creditors will insist upon it.

LITTLE BOYS AND GIRLS TRYING TO DO GROWN UP JOBS.

Monday 24th. October 2011, witnessed the final nail in British democracy. Forget the endeavours of the two major wars of the last century, in both loss of life and cost; we have allowed political leaders of different persuasions, to completely ignore the will of the people. This is not to say that the electorate would have voted to leave the European Union, although the author is confident that the result would have been for withdrawal.

Retrospection is an easy way of resolving problems. We should have heeded the warnings at the time of entry, pointing out that the process would lead to the mayhem which is the EU today. It would have been easy to insist on a referendum every time that there were changes of policy in the Brussels' machine. Great Britain should have warned Europe in the mid 'nineties', that we could not proceed with the consistent fraud without asking the permission of the British electorate. Such things are logical safeguards.

David Cameron, however, as with all the other leaders of the last two decades, takes the European view, rather than the British. Personal gain looms large into one's psyche, with visions of a large 'gravy train'.

NEVERTHELESS, WE CAN ONLY BLAME OURSELVES.

THE EMASCULATION OF DEMOCRACY.

Probably the biggest problem within the European Union is the creeping influence it has on the national parliaments of the member states. If what we learn is correct, David Cameron is endeavouring to stifle any opposition to his recommendation of ignoring much of the public's wishes; thus avoiding the embarrassment of having the electorate vote for a possible withdrawal from the fraudulent EU. Should Cameron succeed, by not giving the house a free vote, something that they would win without alienating his backbenchers, the future could be bleak for the Conservative Party. The next General Election is almost bound to have some of the core party support, looking for options, and without far to go.

The obvious conclusion that can be drawn from this intransigence being the lure of 'gravy train' involvement, when his moment arises. We can understand the attraction to the Liberal Democrats, as they are too small to operate alone, and like the Labour Party, enjoy big government Marxism. It's not too difficult to comprehend.

ANOTHER WEEKEND AND MORE VIOLENCE.

In what should be a haven of calm, the East Midlands of the UK, rarely does a weekend pass without a murder being reported. This last weekend we had three. So, how is it that we are informed regularly that violent crime figures are going down?

If ever a nation has lost it's way, it is Britain. Almost every newscast is led by the word cuts, although such savings are essential if we are serious about recovering our self respect. Violent crime, however, appears to be way down the list of priorities, when it ought to be the subject to raise the most emotion. Neither savings nor MP's dalliances, no matter how important, compare to the loss of human life. We get the usual apologies from the local constabulary, that naturally they are learning lessons. It really is pathetic.

One would presume that a major ingredient in this deplorable situation is weak law. Life becomes cheap when a perpetrator can almost get away with serious crime. Just as with property, we tackle the problem from the wrong perspective; making loans cheaper, with low interest rates and small deposits, when it's the price of housing which is much too high.

AND WE DON'T SEEM TO LEARN

BLACKBERRY CRUMBLE.

This is not a recipe, as we have been let down by one of our important ingredients. Within the failing economies of the western world, few people ever point the finger at what could be a feature of the downturn. We have suggested in these columns previously, that modern communication is too reliant upon trendy, ever smaller contraptions; soon no doubt, to be the size of a postage stamp. We should be giving ourselves more time to pause and think about the problems, of which there is an abundance.

This last week produced a breakdown in the 'Blackberry' network in Britain. Such things will occur, just as some aircraft will fall from the sky. The author read, that a backward schoolboy explained how his world fell apart, or words to that effect, due to the ensuing chaos. Some may wonder how we come to spend millions on educating such youngsters without a better return for our money. Such responses only confirm the rapid decline on these shores.

COMING SHORTLY: APPLE TART.

DISENCHANTMENT WITH MY FELLOW BRITS.

Unfortunately, as a nation we get no brighter. Watching last night's Question Time, it is obvious that certain people in the audience are planted there to argue the most absurd points. Yesterday saw a report on the disgraceful handling of many senior citizens during their stay in hospital; this is before we ask the public around Stafford for their view. What is it that allows David Dimbleby not to instantly point out such things? Not a chance, the union message has to get through, no matter how much in denial the messenger happens to be.

The trouble with this country is the fact that we allow the opinions of NHS staff and the teaching profession to dominate the direction of both health and education; well both of these services happen to be owned by the public. We would consider asking turkeys to vote on Christmas as a retrograde step I'm sure.

It is painfully obvious that Britain's economic state has to be considered 'so last week' by the left wing rabble. Savings must be made everywhere. The current Government has not gone anywhere near far enough. For example: if we want to get young people into work, scrap the minimum wage. It has always been ludicrous that the Government determines what an employee pays it's workforce. Incidentally, to whom should the banks be lending our money? Certainly not bad 'bets', as was the case in recent years. Such considerations need to be resolved. However, very little can happen until Europe comes to terms in acknowledging the failure of the Euro.

THE WORST IS PROBABLY YET TO COME.

CLIMATE CHANGE: A GLIMMER OF HOPE.

The writer's attention was drawn to a remark made by Chancellor George Osbourne during the Tory Party Conference, covered in an article by Richard North, co-author of the book, 'Scared To Death', regarding the devastating effect this so-called climate change is having on our domestic costs, by way of 'green taxes'; these need to be withdrawn, as colder winters seem to be the coming norm, where we'll witness large numbers of elderly people dying from hypothermia. Add to this the carbon trading that is decimating what remains of the United Kingdom's heavy industry. Well it's a start, but could only be rhetoric.

The real truth lies in the fact that most of these charges are stealth taxes. He, Osbourne has just been caught out about future flight taxes, whereby he admits that the reason is just to raise revenue for the Exchequer. The bottom line is, however, because immigration is costing us dearly, along with the over burgeoning welfare state.

The full title of the above mentioned book is 'Scared to Death: From BSE To Global Warming - Why Scares Are Costing Us The Earth'. If you don't remember BSE, that is the condition that was going to destroy great swathes of the nation by the turn of the century, due to beef consumption. A reminder also, was the fear factor peddled by the last Labour Government, who used it as a part of their platform to get elected. We all know that the Prescotts and the Meachers of this world happen to be eminent Brain Specialists.

YES! MANY OF YOU VOTED FOR THESE SCAREMONGERS.

SOME MIGHT SAY, "GIVE HER THE CAT".

The spat that arose this week at the Conservative Party Conference regarding an illegal immigrant and his pet cat was, in the authors opinion, most reasonable. Taxpayer GB needs to be reminded frequently of all these immature decisions around some ridiculous aspects of the Human Rights Act. So, Home Secretary Theresa May can spout about such things to her heart's content. What the Director of Liberty, Shami Chakrabarti thinks, along with my own MP, Kenneth Clarke, with whom I have occasional discussions, normally regarding jazz, is irrelevant. Logic disappeared after the decision was made, by the last Government under Tony Blair, to impose this 'dogs breakfast' of an act, undoubtedly at the behest of Cherie Blair, along with her thousands of fellow leeches operating within the area of Human Rights; who should be far ahead of bankers, when criticism is being doled out.

The fact remains, that we have become a far more unstable country since the late nineteen nineties, mainly for the very reason of this jobs for the 'boys and girls' farcical set of rules. Being born in the mid thirties, when our manners and consideration towards other people were groomed into us by both our parents and good schooling traditions, are, in many cases, long gone. Decisions now made by our courts would frankly not have been allowed. Even now, we could expect a type of' 'backlash' from an ever suspicious majority. In my opinion, such attitudes seem to run concurrently with anti-European Union feelings.

THINK ABOUT IT PRIME MINISTER.

SPORT, AS WITH POLITICS, NEEDS THE RIGHT DECISIONS.

To criticise from afar is the easiest thing to do, some situations, however, actually shout at you by way of satellite television from thousands of miles away. It is, therefore, unsurprising that England capitulated to France in the Rugby World Cup, due to disciplinary decisions which should have been made weeks earlier, following a drunken night out shortly after the opening game vs. Argentina involving the sometime captain of the England team; a 'B lister' from the writer's perspective, who held his stag night in Rio, or somewhere in South America, where he and his entourage could get legless. He, of course, had to brag about it later. This act alone tells the Rugby Football Union and management that he is unfit to be included, never mind being an optional captain for the squad. We are, of course, referring to Mike Tindall, who, when socialising, makes the average 'down and out' look like a 'fashion plate', this when he needed to be acting like an ambassador, representing his country. There were also misdemeanours committed by junior members of the party. All of which is superb fodder for an anxious press seeking out stories to sell their next edition. As WC Fields would have said; "Never give a sucker an even break". Probably in acting like a sucker, Tindall managed to put the boot on the other foot.

By the time of the quarter final against France, the game was up. Martin Johnson knew that Tindall was the problem, as the press wouldn't let go; which obviously had an adverse effect on the team, whose minds would have been deflected from the task in hand.

These observations are not 'sour grapes', since any team that plays not to lose, rather than playing to win, cannot succeed in a knock-out competition.

ACT UPON YOUR INITIAL REACTIONS WHEN THE ANSWER IS SO OBVIOUS.

QE II.

Although this is not a ship, it could help sink the economy fairly rapidly. Quantitative Easing, to give it the correct full name, is a method of pumping unfounded money into the economy, hoping to kick start a dead horse, which is our economy. We can't, in many cases, do much about the situation, as Britain is now a minor player in world trading, since we don't manufacture very much, for a number of reasons e.g not wishing to create too much carbon, and that modern syndrome, laziness, in a large section of the public.

Adam Fergusson's excellent book 'When Money Dies' covers the stupidity of creating false money; regarding what happened in the Weimar Republic (Germany) following WW I. It would appear that neither the Governor of the Bank of England, nor the Chancellor of the Exchequer, has perused it's telling findings.

The additional £75 billion, (£200 billion was sanctioned two years ago by Gordon Brown), was one of the questions in this weeks edition of 'Question Time'. Andy Burnham (Lab.) had a little childlike spat, from which one can only glean that George Osborne is approximately 30% the moron the former Prime Minister's actions made him. During the inter-play, regarding a question on a referendum about the European Union, we were treated to the fact that one of the young women in the audience pontificated, that since she was studying politics, (conniving, cheating and misleading the public), she is the only person eligible to decide on such matters, what a frightening thought; particularly as there are a number of MPs who have never done a proper job either. They, incidentally, to a man/woman, probably wish to remain within the fraudulent club, run from Brussels, seeing a lucrative future; which is always better than working for a living.

INFLATIONARY CONES HAVE BEEN HOISTED.

THE LOSS OF AN INNOVATOR.

It is always sad when anyone dies before their three score years and ten, and the brains behind current electronic wizardry, Steve Jobs, is no exception. Although, an Einstein he wasn't. He only made activities, already in practice, a little easier.

In reading this blog, it is obvious that the author has use of a simple, mainstream domestic computer. Jobs was, I'm sure, the man that introduced such tools to the world; now very much a part of everyday life. However, being lauded to the heavens, is not exactly the way we should see these contraptions. Yes, we can keep in touch, almost instantaneously; we don't have to await the hand mail; paying bills is so much easier; information is all there regarding maps and biographical data, plus much more. Nevertheless, we tend to ignore the appalling downside created by this monster. Here are just a few aspects: Decisions in banking and business, in many cases, made on the hoof without adequate forethought; children being iPad/Podded and smart phoned into a world of make-believe and pathetic vocabulary; we can then add the senior citizen, who in many cases, seems only to use the PC as a toy; and finally, the predator. The fact is, that too many are used for the sheer novelty value only.

IS THIS ONE OF THE REASONS THAT THE WESTERN WORLD IS BANKRUPT?
