WHERE HAS MARXISM EVER BEEN A SUCCESS?

The Labour Party have just completed their annual 'love in' and no doubt 'drink fest', at Brighton. The first 'give away' was an announcement by the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, 'All Ed' Balls; his promise was spending £8oo million on free pre-school education. This is not free of course to taxpayer GB, and  would probably cause another explosion in childbirth. Just about the last thing that we need. This was, however, nothing compared with the big policy news from their ultra left wing supremo, another economic illiterate, 'Thoroughly Modern' Miliband; he embraced the gathering with endless socialist policies; anyone over forty will be aware of the mayhem these would bring to the country's finances. They will remember those bleak days of the 1970's which decimated the nation's economy. Following that disastrous period, the Margaret Thatcher Government managed to turn our fortunes around. On returning to power in 1997, the Labour regime under Tony Blair set about once more to destroy the nation, using credit/debit to give the simple minded that wonderful sense of well being, and there were plenty of takers; people who enjoy being bought off. It would, therefore, be difficult for either Miliband or Balls being entrusted with the simple task of  tea making.

During the gathering, the subject of HS2 (High speed train) came up; this was a favourite vanity project of the last Labour Government, and pursued by the Coalition; incidentally, a total waste of what will have to be borrowed money. The 'pinkoes' have declared that there will be no blank cheque should they be returned to power in 2015. That may sound reasonable, but unfortunately, what they are not admitting, like all left wingers, is that they will want all the blank cheques to buy off the workshy with benefits.

The danger we have here is that the Conservative Party, which forms the largest part of the current Coalition Government, is not keeping its supporters very happy, and many will turn to the actively aggressive United Kingdom Independence Party, who, by definition, want us independent of the European Union, and will win over a considerable amount of the Electorate, which could allow the Marxists into power.

WE NEED TO SHOW GREATER CONCERN FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.

A PARTY POLITICAL BROADCAST ON BEHALF OF SIMON SCHAMA.

The author has been following the Simon Schama TV series, 'The story of the Jews'. Overall it certainly comes over as a comprehensive production. Unfortunately, as with most socialists, he had to, what folk such as myself would say, 'wet the bed', metaphorically speaking. I had hoped that he would get around to New York Jewry, and my favourite subject/hobby, 'proper songs'; following in the footsteps of Jerome Kern, German Jew, the father/architect of the standard song, telling a story in 32 bars, and the creator of the first 'Book Musical', 'Show Boat'. Schama adroitly sidestepped Kern, mentioning Irving Berlin, the Gershwin Bros. and highlighting lyricist, Yip Harburg, certainly a talent in his own right. The latter co-wrote 'Finian's Rainbow', along with composer Burton Lane (Levy), producing a very Irish feel to a wonderful show. Harburg was also the lyricist for one of the great songs from the last century, 'Over the rainbow'(Arlen), although it was a colleague, Paul Francis Webster who came to his rescue with the word 'somewhere'. To his credit, Harburg gave Webster's children gifts at Christmas and birthdays as a thank you. More importantly, Harburg wrote the words to the song 'Brother can you spare a dime'(Gorney), which became the anthem for the Democratic Party during the thirties. Harburg was a socialist; this being Schama's main thrust. Neither was the name Richard Rodgers mentioned, he had Russian Jewish roots and went on to become the undisputed 'King of Broadway' The point being made, was that following the Russian pogroms of the late 19th, early 20th century, many survivors fled to New York. Schama taking the example of Yip Harburg, whose family's electrical business failed, due to the 1929 'Wall Street Crash'. Most are aware that serious left wing policies were the mainstay of these unfortunate immigrants, that's the reason, as identified by Clark Clifford, who then advised Harry Truman to court the Jewish vote; after all, the influence of Marx and Engels provide enough evidence.

What here is so obvious to the writer, is the fact that Schama did not mention Kern or Rodgers, probably because they came from more comfortable backgrounds, far from the madding socialist crowd.

PUBLIC BROADCASTING TO MAKE A PERSONAL POINT IS SHAMEFUL.

CLEGGY AND THE DREAMERS.

Here in the United Kingdom, the annual political beauty contests have started, the party conferences. First out of the blocks were the Liberal Democrats, or perhaps, the 'not so Liberal' Democrats. Their leader, Nick Clegg, enjoyed his moment in the limelight, emphasising all his projected giveaways. Let the author try to explain.

The LibDems is a minor party that happens to make up the coalition numbers, along with Conservatives, to be greater than the Labour opposition. Ever since the 2010 General Election, they have demanded a tit-for-tat requirement regarding their recommended policies, all with left wing overtones; hence the reason that we have taken so long to emerge from the mess left by the last Labour regime. Its big flagship policy, making school meals free for all children for the first three years of their schooling. This, we understand, will cost around £600 million, which naturally reminds us that it is not free for all of us, it can't be. Furthermore, when a nation is cutting back, quite rightly so, on benefits, with a National Debt in the trillions, it's advisable to refrain from additional spending. Clegg's party also reneged on one of the main agreements; to support recommendations by the Boundaries Commission regarding constituency boundaries, to make a level playing field as elections come along, due to population fluctuations. In return, Clegg won the right to a referendum on the voting system, which he lost by 2 to1. His total support for the loathed European Union (he hopes to finish up with a cosy job there)! We could go on indefinitely, but he tries to make an argument in favour of the appalling Human Rights laws. This was introduced by Tony Blair, 'Mr. Sleaze', no doubt due to this being the speciality of Mrs. Blair, a practising barrister. How strange, therefore, that Clegg's wife also practises law; incidentally, so does 'Thoroughly Modern' Miliband's wife. These three couples want to assist all 'illegals' in Britain to stay, and eventually be given the vote, in the hope that they will support their respective parties. Some democrats! Furthermore, how come we were much safer in our own beds before the Human Rights legislation was introduced?

ANOTHER BRAZILIAN, UNO!

The most extraordinary story of the week so far is the interference of a Brazilian member of the United Nations Organisation, one Raquel Rolnik, a Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing; a rather grand nonsensical title, here to advise on housing concerns. Ms. Rolnik, a Marxist, was soon enrolled into the current left wing whinge on what they want to promote as a 'bedroom tax'. We have explained previously, that a tax is on something owned by individuals, not by the state; 'Left Wingers' love to lie. To confirm the situation, the democratically elected government has introduced a measure, whereby residents in council owned property, should they have spare bedrooms, will not receive benefits for any extra bedrooms, encouraging them to 'downsize'. After all, folk in the private sector are doing so in fairly healthy numbers.

This dim intruder from South America, where they seem to have an appalling housing situation, thinks she can lecture to us regarding, what appears to many to be a very reasonable scheme. Ms. Rolnik is masquerading behind some notion about human rights. Naturally, she has been encouraged by the usual suspects, the Guardian and the BBC, yes the BBC, who, one would think, should be running for cover, following all the derogatory press they have had, and continue to receive. These 'clowns' just love wasting taxpayer GB's money in their endeavour to speak up for the money wasting 'Left'.

Ms. ROLNIK, IF YOU WISH TO INFLUENCE US, GET YOUR NAME ON A BALLOT PAPER.

PLAN 'A'

There has been a little rejoicing in the that 'small island' off the coast of continental Europe, which is Britain, is eventually dragging itself from the disastrous mayhem left by the previous Labour Government. Believe me, it was serious. It would have happened sooner, had Chancellor Osbourne hit the austerity button harder. However, for the time being, things are looking brighter.

The gormless 'Left', automatically would have preferred to pursue the 'borrow and tax route', always a favourite with the economic neophyte; living for today, and the devil taking the hindmost. This action is favoured by the Unions, who, rely on state employment to bolster their funds, via contributions. The turkeys voting for Christmas syndrome.

Let us fast forward to January 2014, when the floodgates will be opened to potentially more millions of East Europeans arriving to feast off our generous 'welfarism'. Add to that, the impending disaster that will engulf the Eurozone regarding the week southern nations. We are regularly informed that Europe is our largest market. We are overlooking the fact that a market is a place where money changes hands, in return for goods. No money, no transaction. Naturally, the United Kingdom is purchasing plenty of goods from them. This is the kind of leadership, to which we have become accustomed, following the removal of Margaret Thatcher.

THERE IS STILL A LONG WAY TO GO, BEFORE THE WORLD RECOVERS.

COULD THE PROBLEM BE QUOTAS.

The United Kingdom is going through a period of introspection. This was triggered by the revelations of Jimmy Savile, a Disc Jockey, Charity Fund raiser, and paedophile; much of the latter going on within the British Broadcasting Corporation, and indeed such activities were known to some of the management. This has lead to a spate of arrests by the police, which have already resulted in a number of prison sentences.

The most recent high profile trial was for a character from one of the commercial channels, ITV, Michael Le Vell (Turner). Le Vell's accuser was a young female, claiming to have been sexually abused by him for many years. The jury, however, didn't believe her story and Le Vell was acquitted. The author has no opinion on the foregone matter, apart from the fact that, from what we read, there was disagreement in the state institution which makes the decisions on whether or not to proceed with charges, which culminate in the trial of the accused. Nazir Afzal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the North West, was against proceeding, whereas Alison Levitt QC, principal legal adviser to the Director of Public Prosecutions, was determined to go through with the trial. From the reports, there was little or no evidence to convict Le Vell; it was his word against his accuser.

This brings us to the point of this posting: How did this neophyte of a Queen's Council get to the exulted position of advising the Director of the CPS? I'm tempted to say that she would be better off being a mother at home, but heaven knows how her children would turn out. Her judgement appears to be on the same low level as the senior Metropolitan Police Officer, Cressida Dick, who, a few years ago, gave the order to kill an innocent Brazilian electrician living in Streatham, South London. This, nevertheless, has not held her back, as she rockets up the ladder of seniority at Scotland Yard; which would suggest that quotas are not good for everyone's health. In addition, be assured, all these ill thought out decisions add to the bill of taxpayer GB.

AS FOR MICHAEL LE VELL, AS A SELF CONFESSED ALCOHOLIC, DECLARING THAT YOU WERE ABOUT TO CELEBRATE WITH A DRINK, WAS NOT A SMART MOVE.

A LITTLE BRITISH INDULGENCE.

We have just witnessed the conclusion of the 2013 BBC Proms season; one of the better activities of the British Broadcasting Corporation. The final night finishes with those moments of nationalism, but it's all mostly harmless, particularly as it includes international stars. This year the orchestra was conducted by Marin Alsop, the first woman to be handed the baton for this auspicious occasion. In addition, we heard the wonderful voice of another American, that superb opera diva, Joyce DiDonato. She gave us a number of songs, including 'Over the rainbow' (Harold Arlen/Yip Harburg) and 'You'll never walk alone' (Richard Rodgers/Oscar Hammerstein II) What was so disappointing, from the authors perspective, is that there was no mention of the songwriters by the announcer, Katie Derham, for these two pieces.

I have mentioned previously, my radio programme every Wednesday night 10.00pm UK time, available on line www.103theeye.co.uk, where I specialise in the wonderful songs from the 20th. century. Most senior citizens would be aware that 'Over the rainbow' was written for the film 'The wizard of Oz'. On the other hand, 'You'll never walk alone' would evoke thoughts of football to more folk than the fact that it is one of the most poignant moments in the musical show, 'Carousel'. Hey-Ho!

BOTH ARLEN AND RODGERS WERE SUPREME TUNESMITHS.

MARK CARNEY SAYS "GOD BLESS THE SAVERS".

The new governor of the Bank of England is continuing the system whereby, the savers, normally the senior citizens such as myself, will continue to endeavour to help reduce the National Debt. This is done, he hopes, by keeping interest rates at a farcical 0.5%. We have completely lost the plot regarding capitalism, and how it works. It should be to keep everyone contented. Unfortunately, the establishment is still bent on getting borrowers to indulge themselves with cheap money, and we all know where that leads.

This week I have received, from my bank, notification that two of my old ISAs will have their dividends cut, from a little over 2%, to just below. An ISA by the way, is a form of tax free saving here in the UK; each year we can have a cash ISA up to £5,760. After a year, they remain tax free, but with a reduced return.

Can anybody explain to me how we get ourselves out of a financial hole by persecuting the prudent, whilst encouraging the borrowers to flourish?

PERHAPS A DEBTORS PRISON MIGHT HELP.
