LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN etc.

Mother Nature is currently helping out with our predicament from the lack of water here in Britain. Plenty of my fellow inhabitants, after a few days of rain, bemoan the fact that the hosepipe ban has not been lifted immediately. These are the people who are so easily swayed when it comes to exercising their franchise. They obviously long for a politician to tell them that the 'all clear' has sounded. The days of using ones common sense is long gone; being fed good news is far more preferable. If and when politicians give out such news, it is more likely to be propaganda. Hitler and Goebbels would have loved to have been in their prime during this era, with all the moronic devices with which to influence the gullible.

The question of water supply, however, is a subject that any government must face in the immediate future. We cannot go on increasing our population, pretending that the problem will disappear. The author has mentioned this many times; it's time that we made the right noises to our MPs. In my case I started almost twenty years ago. It is extraordinary that a good national supply of drinking water doesn't register with political parties, who love to promise ridiculous schemes such as High Speed Trains.

THE CLOCK IS TICKING.

"I MISSED A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT".

The title is one of the many amusing sayings of the late wonderful entertainer, Jimmy Durante. Fortunately I was lucky enough to be born into a world where we were obliged to grow up more quickly than today. By my late teens I had learned the rudiments of building construction and surveying. This was followed by my National (Military) Service, therefore, by the time I was twenty one, I was on active service. Unfortunately for our politicians they have done nothing of merit, but can aspire to being Prime Minister and leader of the Opposition. Neither, I wouldn't be surprised they know who Durante was.

Cameron in his early days as leader of the Conservative Party, boasted of being the 'heir to Blair'. Hitherto, I had been a fervent Tory. However, turning to psuedo socialist  policies of the aforementioned Blair, Cameron rejected true conservatives such as myself. Diversity, shortlists, mainly women, plus a goodly sprinkling of homosexuals and others. Some of these candidates may turn out to be reasonable, but they were all selected by the high command. Compounding these hazards, the Prime Minister picks appalling friends from the world of the media, playing into the hands of the pathetic BBC and Guardian. We could add the Labour Party to this motley crew, but they are just jealous that Murdoch turned his back on them. The problem Cameron has here is that I think democratically, obviously a word with which Cameron struggles. Taking this a stage further, I know that I'm not the only one thinking along these lines.

This week's edition of 'Question Time' saw Nigel Farage (UKIP) stressing the the lack of experience in Westminster. That, unfortunately, was one of the few intelligent points made. I'm sure that the first question was about the United Kingdom slipping back into recession. Dianne Abbott, that fount of economic knowledge, a socialist who sends her offspring to a fee paying school, gave us the sound bite that it was the Government's fault, suggesting that we spend more. No one challenged her by enquiring which part of the £5 trillion debt we use. Europe is getting deeper into a financial quagmire, and the UK cannot become exempt from these forces. Unless of course we change our position on The European Union.

IN THE MEANTIME PRIME MINISTER, KEEP IT SHUT.

ABU QATADA COULD RUN LONGER THAN LESMIS.

The ongoing saga of the troublesome Islamic cleric should, quite clearly, be established back with the creators of this disgraceful charade, the Labour Party. They were the instigators of the travesty on unlimited immigration and the farcical Human Rights Convention, so eagerly adopted by Prime Minister Tony Blair, at the behest of his wife. The process knowingly to be 'a nice little earner' for her particular speciality, human rights law, all funded by taxpayer GB.

The current position of the Labour Party on the subject might, to some, be politically eye catching. If, however, they are so concerned, why on earth didn't their last Government deport Abu Qatada? The answer of course is easy, they enjoy creating a running sore. They did the same on the question of the 50p rate of tax for higher earners, the increase coming about after 12years 11months of their 13year term in government. Such activity foments political activity, so loved by the equally dim media, especially the BBC. None of which helps in the slightest with the horrendous National Debt of £5trillion.

So Abu Qatada is nothing more than a political football to those on the left of the political spectrum; appealing to the mass under-educated. They are the people who will never learn that the likes of immigrant 'trouble makers', along with the promises of some kind of Shangri-La, which is supposed to occur under socialism, will only cost money, much of which is borrowed. Perhaps however, this cannot continue for much longer.

ALL THIS POSTURING COSTS A LOT OF MONEY.

PREDICTIONS OR PROPAGANDA.

"There, they've said it again". Ever since Gordon Brown gave the Bank of England control of inflation, early into the disastrous Blair/Brown regime, has the economy been run according to the whims of politicians, with insatiable appetites for good news. From around the year 2000, we have been fed lie upon lie on how the  nation's finances were performing. There is nothing better for these dim politicians than to extol such misinformation to suit their own ends. It has to be obvious, that taxpayer GB was being mislead, otherwise, we would not be in the present predicament. The more sinister point that needs to be considered is, why do people believe politicians when they appear to give other institutions apparent authority over such decisions? When they, the Government, must have retained some control, via certain placements, particularly on the committee that sets interest rates. The lowering of these rates is so obviously a major cause of much of our financial ills.

Every month we get either good or bad news regarding inflation; something, that as a nation, is not totally under our control. Oil being a prime example, even our own production sells at the current world rate. On the other hand, income and taxes are, or should be, down to the Government, which needs to disregard any form of increases instigated by European Union directive.

Why then, do we waste our time trying to predict the unpredictable? Since it so often backfires, mainly due to reasons already outlined. The one area which does benefit, is the media, particularly television, and their limited news journalists. It's always a question of being 'damned if you do' and 'damned if you don't'. The BoE, plus endless economists, line up to give these dim reporters a view of the future, apparently without 'factoring in' the devastation that is going on currently in the Eurozone for example. Reporters naturally are not interested in the economy, just, hopefully, a sensational story. They rarely ask a mature question; normally they bask in some kind of ignorance, looking for an opportunity to point out that improvements had been predicted. The backward BBC is particularly adept at this approach.

DOES THE NATION THEREFORE PREFER PROPAGANDA?

'QUESTION TIME' TARTS.

This was not about Christmas preparation, it was about the two dimwits fielded by the Labour party on the panel for the final programme of the year. Bearing in mind, the state of the European economy and the endless panic meetings by Anglas Merkozy (Merkel and Sarkozy). The two simpletons involved, Tristram Hunt and Mehdi Hasan spoke only of the differences between David Cameron and his democratically performing backbench, something the average socialist would have difficulty understanding. If Cameron leaves the Brussels conference as the odd man out , he will have done a proper job. It's high time that we put the EU at arms length.

The BBC will no doubt wail incessantly about our isolation, never stopping to mention the possibility of asking what the electorate might think. One has to wonder what BBC stands for.

THINGS COULD BE BOILING UP.

TAXATION TO VEXATION.

The real problem of taxation is not knowing where the money goes. The media will question anything that comes from the budget, whatever the bias, be they increases and/or reductions.

History tells us that the lower the taxes, the happier folk are prepared to pay. In many countries, keeping money stuffed under the bed is preferable to declaring one's total income. It probably occurs in Britain more often than the Government likes to think. Could this become a regular habit with the few people who still trade in cash? Taxes on purchases, and green taxes on travel, are easier for the taxman to trace.

Let us return to the vexation, as we need to know in detail how much these charges go towards funding immigrants, many of them having never subscribed to the system. Certain operations in the NHS which should be charged to the patient, as they are a lifestyle choice rather than an ailment; awards to criminals on the grounds of Human Rights. We need to be kept up to date regarding every cost in these areas. Publishing all items on line daily, with an annual total.

The everyday increases in the price of motor fuel with it's knock-on effect, along with increased taxation, will become the battleground that the media ought to be considering. Unfortunately, the days of good journalism are, in most cases, turning to sensationalism.

INCIDENT AT THE SUPERMARKET.

This morning, collecting our two daily papers, being Friday, there was a queue, due to punters buying their lotto tickets; hoping by next week to be millionaires, and others stocking up on cigarettes. Retailers with a large floor area now have to keep tobacco out of sight, to deter young folk from developing the habit. All the author can glean from this, is that the older folk now purchase in bulk.

However, it was not that which left the writer disturbed, but a simple piece of theft by a boy of around thirteen years of age. He and his mother were standing just ahead of me, both appearing to be perfectly respectable, well shod etc., awaiting our turn. As the boy approached the counter, he started to play furtively with a pack of chewing gum in a multipack container, the containers were arranged in twos, accept for the one he was manipulating under his mother's nose. I can't imagine what my mother would have said to me had I been touching anything that didn't belong to me. His mother, nevertheless, took not the slightest notice. When his mother paid for her legitimate items, and they departed, I noticed that the odd pack of gum had disappeared.

HOW ARE THINGS IN THE US of A?

It is interesting to note that our largest readership is in America. I haven't written much recently about your political scene, as viewed from this side of the pond. Things are bound to heat up somewhat in the near future, as campaigning will presumably get more intense.

It must be obvious from these postings, that the author is a conservative. Anything else in a democracy tends to give money away, which is always other people's. Naturally, the people on the 'take', vote for a piece of that. In Britain we get that all the time, aided and abetted by the licence funded BBC. The BBC has a sneering elitism, many of whom, the overpaid senior presenters, develop tax dodges, something for which they criticise high earners in the world of business and commerce.

Another story emerging currently: Children under ten years of age are being told not to have best friends, or indeed boy or girl friends. One wonders if heterosexuality could become illegal.

For any American that might be interested, we have an Iowan grandson with a second offspring in the making.

NB: Our sister blog, Brussels! Good For You? (http://europeanfantasy.blogspot.com), also attracts more attention from the States than elsewhere. In addition, for anyone who enjoys old (proper) songs, you can hear the writer, every Wednesday at 10.00pm (22.00hrs) UK time, on www.103theeye.co.uk

FOR ANY OF YOU INTENDING TO VISIT FOR THE OLYMPICS, ENJOY.

ANYWHERE HE HANGS HIS HAT.

To the uninitiated, George Galloway is a left wing politician, a former Labour Party maverick, who now flits over the British political landscape like a demented tick; looking to create divisiveness in constituencies dominated by Muslims. He has, in a recent by-election in Bradford West, won handsomely, condemning his former party, who considered it to be a safe seat, to second place, by some considerable margin. The Tories didn't fare much better, by also losing a sizable chunk of their support.

Galloway's minuscule party is known as Respect. His first success was in a London Borough, which returned to the Labour Party at the last General Election. Unperturbed, he looked for a prime target with the necessary high Muslim presence. He then convinces the local electorate of his support for their causes, the Islamisation of as much as Britain as possible, his opposition to the ongoing war in Afghanistan and the recent conflict in Iraq. His CV reads of a creep to all Middle Eastern Leaders. Licking Saddam Hussein's feet was a former occupation of Galloway's.

His style is not dissimilar to that of Ken Livingstone, the former Mayor of London, who is trying to recapture, again due to  the large Muslim community, the position in the forthcoming Mayoral Elections. In Livingstone's case, he attacks the Jewish community to curry favour with Islam. Yes, this is happening in Britain's capital, and he is the official Labour Party candidate.

ANOTHER BLOCK ON THE ROAD TO RUIN.

BEHIND THE FACADE.

A comment in this morning's press sums up the theme projected in these blogs. In the recent Budget, why on earth didn't the Chancellor deliver the following brief message? "We are flat broke and will remain so for some years to come". The words were written by Kelvin Mackenzie. Readers will note from earlier postings, that all the Government is doing is passing the debt around. We refer to it as 'smoke and mirrors' accountancy.

Unfortunately, the Coalition has already wasted two years by pretending to be tough, without more than scratching the surface of the mega million debt 'black hole'. Hundreds of thousands of  'non-jobs' have to go. There are endless people being paid very good salaries by taxpayer GB, hoping to retire at sixty years of age, and striking if they can't.

Let us repeat here that daunting figure of the total amount of debt, which George Osborne should have admitted in his first budget in 2010, £4.8 trillion. The figure was outlined in Martin Durkin's television documentary 'Britain's Trillion Pound Horror Story', later that year. In not pointing this fact out, he is leaving the current regime 'wide open' for the blame, which we know to be the Brown years of mishandling a bouyant economy so badly.

NAIVETE WILL NOT BE AN EXCUSE.
