"I MISSED A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT".
The title is one of the many amusing sayings of the late wonderful entertainer, Jimmy Durante. Fortunately I was lucky enough to be born into a world where we were obliged to grow up more quickly than today. By my late teens I had learned the rudiments of building construction and surveying. This was followed by my National (Military) Service, therefore, by the time I was twenty one, I was on active service. Unfortunately for our politicians they have done nothing of merit, but can aspire to being Prime Minister and leader of the Opposition. Neither, I wouldn't be surprised they know who Durante was.
Cameron in his early days as leader of the Conservative Party, boasted of being the 'heir to Blair'. Hitherto, I had been a fervent Tory. However, turning to psuedo socialist policies of the aforementioned Blair, Cameron rejected true conservatives such as myself. Diversity, shortlists, mainly women, plus a goodly sprinkling of homosexuals and others. Some of these candidates may turn out to be reasonable, but they were all selected by the high command. Compounding these hazards, the Prime Minister picks appalling friends from the world of the media, playing into the hands of the pathetic BBC and Guardian. We could add the Labour Party to this motley crew, but they are just jealous that Murdoch turned his back on them. The problem Cameron has here is that I think democratically, obviously a word with which Cameron struggles. Taking this a stage further, I know that I'm not the only one thinking along these lines.
This week's edition of 'Question Time' saw Nigel Farage (UKIP) stressing the the lack of experience in Westminster. That, unfortunately, was one of the few intelligent points made. I'm sure that the first question was about the United Kingdom slipping back into recession. Dianne Abbott, that fount of economic knowledge, a socialist who sends her offspring to a fee paying school, gave us the sound bite that it was the Government's fault, suggesting that we spend more. No one challenged her by enquiring which part of the £5 trillion debt we use. Europe is getting deeper into a financial quagmire, and the UK cannot become exempt from these forces. Unless of course we change our position on The European Union.
IN THE MEANTIME PRIME MINISTER, KEEP IT SHUT.
