STAND BY YOUR WATER PIPES.

The UK is barely at the end of winter and we are already being warned of impending water shortages in the Midlands and the South East of England, due to lack of rain/snow in these areas. Nature will always make you look foolish, when any country does not consider the consequences of not catering for vast over-population. The North, North/West and Scotland certainly appear to continue to have more than their fair share of rain, something that has generally been the case, probably over centuries.

Over-population is, of course, the part of the equation which successive Governments have ignored, in not having made the necessary provision of piping the water from the well catered for North, effectively creating a national grid. This could feed existing reservoirs. Simultaneously, we must devise methods of reducing the population, thereby not consuming so much of this precious liquid. The two methods of reducing our overcrowding would be by reducing the sponsorship of child birth, many of the children born are purely to create additional income. In addition, immigration has to come to a halt, in actual fact it must be reversed.

What is so hard to swallow is the proposed High Speed Train, a ludicrous waste of money; designed to move people around the country, saving a few minutes, possibly for very thirsty and unwashed people. Not to mention the comparative smaller irritation of the extended tram system in the writer's own city of Nottingham; another disgraceful exercise in throwing good money after bad. So let us decide, what is the more important: quenching ones thirst, or travelling on HST's and trams? For the logical there is no contest.

MAY WE PLEASE HAVE A THINKING GOVERMENT.
