'SHOWBOAT' NEW PRODUCTION.

Last week saw Downing Street's 2011 version of the original book musical, 'Showboat': Jerome Kern/Oscar Hammerstein II. The 'Old man river' in this event is the Thames, rather than the Mississippi. Further departures from the original indicate how more compatible different races, black and white, have become, and rightly so. However, there was more toting of rhetoric rather than bales of cotton. The show was soon on the road with performances abroad.

Cynicism is easy of course; nevertheless, this euphoria naturally will not rid us of the overbearing debt being suffered by both the UK and USA. Immediately following the London gathering, our intrepid heroes were off to a G8 meeting, supposedly made up of the eight wealthiest nations on the planet, but whose total debt is astronomical. Collectively they promised more of tax payers money to help with world problems, particularly those of the Middle East and North Africa; these funds only adding to the already massive debt, £5 trillion alone in the UK.

'ROUGH HUHNE': TA-TA TO UK STEEL MAKING.

Two announcements in the last week, one delivered in the House of Commons by our man with the Energy brief, Chris Huhne, outlining the speed with which we, the UK, will reduce our carbon emissions. The second, following exactly on cue, from steel manufacturer Tata, explaining how quickly they will reduce output here in an endeavour to reduce pollution, to comply with 'Rough Huhne's' projections. This will ultimately mean that we will have to import our steel from India amongst other manufacturers abroad. We will never get out of our financial hole with these dunderheads in positions of power.

Huhne's self-created beatified position is flying increasingly in the face of the best professional opinions from the better informed authorities on the subject of global warning. Dr. Phillip Jones from the University of East Anglia, the British flag bearer, with it's computer projections regarding climate change, is now showing much scepticism, as the climate is not even close to their suggested future temperatures of the early nineties. Niether, overlooking the views of Prof. Ian Plimer, who writes books on the subject. We are getting closer to findings by that wonderful documentary maker, Martin Durkin, who, a few years ago, consulted the top brains on the subject, some of whom threatened the authorities who were circulating misleading information, implying that it was under-written by these sceptic professionals.

If we don't get to grips quickly with these tax raising scare tactics, we will obviously completely price ourselves out of the world market place. In addition to having no money, we'll also be short of power to keep warm, making hypothermia a major cause of death.

M&S SOCCER KIT.

Having been brought up to look and act respectably, plus doing a period of National Service which enhanced this discipline, whilst introducing the ethos to those who weren't familiar with the ideal; during National Service, we had to shave every morning as part of this discipline. Why is Jamie Redknapp advertising a Marks and Spencer's suit, with a scruffy chin? Something more fitting for our spitting, swearing, fouling, tattooed and generally crude, overpaid footballers. Yes, you can react by saying that he was a footballer and is still involved in the so-called sport. But it won't attract me to purchase such garments. They could alternatively consider a good shaving system.

ALL PART OF THE PROTRACTED DEATH OF THE WEST'S CIVILIZATION.

MORE SUPPORT RE: THE NATIONAL DEBT.

In addition to our previous postings following Martin Durkin's documentary of Nov. 2010, 'IF YOU'RE A SOCIALIST, LOOK AWAY NOW' (12/11/10) and 'JUST WHEN YOU THINK IT'S ALL CLEAR' (10/5/10). A letter in this week's press from Lord Clifford of Chudleigh highlights one of the facets from the Durkin film, the part played by John Cowperthwaite, Financial Secretary for Hong Kong between 1961/71. Cowperthwaite introduced a tax regime encouraging people to work. This model has been pursued rigorously throughout Asia, including China; only a fool could ignore the success created by this.

Just to mention once more that our National Debt is now approaching £5 trillion, taking all the projected expenditure into account.

LIB-DEMS ATTEMPT AT POPULARITY.

It is reported that the president of the Liberal Democrats, Tim Farron, is suggesting that we have a vote regarding our membership of the European Union. Is this the most bizarre stroke of opportunism ever? The Lib-Dems will probably seek support anywhere, following their recent reverses. This suggestion is, however, the one that will flummox David Cameron the most, in that this move had to be his ace; simply because he will have to play it to stand a chance of retaining power come the next General Election.

This could be the one move that sets the agenda for the immediate future of politics in the United Kingdom. If the Prime Minister does not respond to this sea-change in the coalition ranks, expect Labour to start considering debating the European question also.

JUST WHEN YOU THINK IT'S ALL CLEAR.

It is probably about six months since we referred to the C4 documentary by film maker Martin Durkin, about the parlous state of the National Debt; where he made it quite clear that the projected figure, at the time of the end of the disastrous Labour years, was £4.8 trillion and rising. The previous regime had instituted ongoing debt with, for example, a Euro support mechanism. As we all know, this was agreed to by Alistair Darling, after the General Election of May 2010. The aim being, to create as many minefields for the new Government. Labour's ultimate ruse is that, generally, the electorate will blame the coalition for the subsequent problems, and naturally they could succeed to this end.

However, the size of the debt is never referred to by politicians. Until this week the only reference the author has noticed has been in the letters to the press. It is refreshing to learn that there are other folk in the country who take the problem seriously. Enter the 'big guns'. All of a sudden, articles written by people with economic nous are beginning to appear. It is important, therefore, that we consider how a figure, which is now nearer £5 trillion, happens to be made up.

In addition to the aforementioned Euro support fund, (a fool's game if ever there was one); we have the public sector, bank bailouts, pensions, and national retirement. Add to the mix, private finance initiatives, along with plenty of extra explosive items to which the previous administration will have committed taxpayer GB.

What the public needs to understand is that all of this happened at the behest of the electorate; many of whom just soaked up this non-existent money as a right.

COUNCIL ELECTIONS AND OTHER THINGS.

Surprisingly the Tory vote stood up very well. The Left kept their fighting 'in house'. If they can't be promised something for nothing by the LibDems, they will switch to the well practised party of bankruptcy, Labour. How can anybody in Britain be in any doubt about there being no money available.

The problem, as most would realise, is that Clegg and co., up until joining the coalition with the Conservatives, could have said anything in a General Election campaign. However, when in Government, the scene changes dramatically. Responsibility was a word that never had to be considered. Plus the fact that they actually lost seats in May 2010.

What is important now is that we get on with resolving the business of the Economy. In actual fact, the LibDems could turn their fortunes around with a forceful backing of this requirement. What we don't want to hear is ongoing wailing regarding voting systems. Both Cameron and Clegg may make statements about being opposed to independence for Scotland, and yes, it would be a pity, particularly as we share a considerable history together; but please don't waste time and hard earned taxes on the situation, instead, let us think of the savings and make sure that there will be some. This has to be of benefit to the mother country, should they choose to leave the Union.

What we now have to concentrate upon is England's relationship with the European Union. An acknowledgment of listening to the people is long overdue. By the time of the next Euro election, let us monitor the UKIP poll, this is the key. They are, quite rightly, bound to take Tory votes, and it could prove decisive.

BEWARE, BE SMART! (Bock/Holofcener/Weiss)

SPARED THE WEAKEST LINK.

To have gone down the road of elections based upon the 'alternative vote', would have been the first step to political oblivion, regarding our position within the European Union. Should we have succumbed to a coalition of left wing bias, 'proportional representation' would have followed quickly on it's heels. We are acting with considerable homage to that bunch of crooks in Brussels as it is; but at least we have held onto the last vestiges of the defence of our sovereignty, which must now be pursued with considerably alacrity. We won't be allowed out of gaol indefinitely. Trusting to the future to look after itself is a fool's game. The days of lazy attitudes towards some kind of baseless opulence disappeared with the last Labour Administration.

The ball is momentarily in the court of the electorate; to be played decisively.

NEGOTIATING WITH A MACHINE.

It's impossible! Since early 2010 this blog has featured Adwords advertising, mainly sponsored by Google supplying substantial credit. Subsequently, for some months, we have tried to open an Adsense account, hoping to retrieve some funds with possible hits as payment, subject to clicks on various adverts. Unfortunately, Google doesn't recognize these regular contributions, although we receive monthly advice on how the Adwords account is performing; Google prefers to insist that our current email address does not match their records. Our email details have changed since the commencement of the blog, some three years ago, but, our adwords account is firmly based on our current email address, otherwise it would not be posted on the www. We have tried for some months to be accepted by Adsense, but hit the buffers on every occasion.

Very soon, therefore, advertising will cease to appear on the two blogs, as it was intended to try to receive an income; following the advice suggested in Eric Giguere's book,' Make Easy Money With Google'. However, regular postings will keep appearing as normal.

MACHINES DON'T DO CUSTOMER SERVICES.

AV OR NOT AV? THAT IS THE QUESTION.

As the time draws nigh for the vote on the British referendum for our system of voting at future General Elections; the English in particular need to be thinking seriously on which way to vote, and certainly casting a vote one way or the other. This could be permanent.

The pro AV lot are those that think that they can be in Government indefinitely, with a constant mish-mash of coalition partners. The present Government is a hybrid, but could become the norm. Although circumstances, following the last Election, paved the way for the current administration, and the nation needed some instant stability to settle the money markets. Even so, it is obvious that all things will not go well, as the smaller party spends much of it's time crying 'wolf'.

Opposition leader,' Thoroughly Modern Miliband', is currently peddling the ruse that the current Government has no mandate; well let us understand that no coalition can ever have a mandate. If we add into the mix that Scotland and Wales may vote in favour of AV to keep the English funded 'gravy trains' well topped up. In addition, we would see an even larger central governing body, something that many might suggest should be considerably smaller. You have been warned, therefore, of the financial considerations, which, in general, will apply mainly to the English electorate.

DON'T BE COMPLACENT!
