THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUTSPOKEN POLITICIANS.
We appear to have had two mini tsunamis in the last week regarding comments made by people in Government. Firstly, Lord Young, adviser to the Government, remarked that "people have never had it so good". As a pensioner, that comment hardly applies to the author, as the increases in the cost of living far outstrip any advances in my income; we make very little extra on investments. There is, however, a section of society who don't have to bother about such things, as everything is found from myself and every other taxpayer in the UK. In their case, Lord Young had got a point.
The other example is connected, due to tax implications. Howard Flight, a man after my own heart, also saw the credit bubble inflating some years ago, but was considered a fool for so doing; not unlike Wall Street banker, Paul Warburg, who was full of foreboding about the situation in 1929, prior to the 'crash'. Flight's observations, suggesting that procreation will diminish within the middle classes, is right on the button. Why? Because they are the responsible ones; the swathes of people on benefits have no fear here, because their income will increase with every child they have. As the meerkat in the advert would say, "simples".
Naturally, TV's Question Time had to waste time on the subject, with the socialist 'dumb-cluck' suggesting that there are no irresponsible folk exploiting the system. She didn't mention Karen Matthews, let alone the endless numbers of others who will be treating their multiplying as a business enterprise.
THE MORE ASIDES, THE BETTER.
