Whatever the subjects were at certain universities around Britain on Wednesday 10th. Nov, the attendances would have been, at best, a little thin on the ground, due to the fracas in London. There is the usual concern that the havoc was caused by a fringe of delinquent students who had hijacked this opportunity to do the Marxists' work for them.

What then was all this mayhem about? Lord Brown, Tony Blair's favourite businessman and former head of BP, following his review into how university education should be funded, a study commissioned by the last Government, takes the realistic view that students need to be responsible for their own advancement, not funded by taxpayer GB.

In the unlikely event of a BBC news reporter apprehending one of the recalcitrant demonstrators, the chances of interviewing someone studying quantum mechanics would be unheard of; as indeed, the assembled probably could not have produced anyone training in medicine or civil engineering. So what are all these characters doing? Remember, at this stage they are still being funded by taxpayer GB, a debt that will stay with us until each individual earns £21,000. This is all part of the game that is politics, performed mainly for the benefit of the media.
