BORIS STARTS HIS CAMPAIGN FOR 2012.

The weakness of what we consider to be democratic is this grovelling to buy votes at all costs. The Coalition Government makes the correct decision to cap housing benefit. This is logical, otherwise landlords enjoy Christmas Day 365 days of the year, at taxpayer GB's expense; much of which involves giving refugees a better standard of living than OAPs, who have paid into the system all of their working days. Boris Johnson, naturally, has a problem here, as he wants as many votes as possible when the time comes for the next Mayoral election in two years time.

The logic always has to be paramount in the thinking of government. What is the most important requirement? It has to be saving money. So the PM is obliged to disregard the bleating of the Mayor, and continue to concern himself more about the rest of us. If he has a problem with this, then he shouldn't hesitate in asking us for our view. The author could be wrong, of course, but I'm sure the majority know what the answer would be.

BRING ON PROPER DEMOCRACY.
