BEES WAX LYRICAL.

Two items in the press this last week have a compatibility, the weather. Firstly, we learn that the intrepid army of forecasters, one of whom always follows the news on the BBC, due to savings, is about to follow the' hard done by' newsreaders, by withdrawing their labour, because fewer are needed. We can say that again! The good news, however, comes via a letter from an apiarist in Derbyshire. Since mid-summer, her bees have been building defences from what, her experience tells her, will be a severe winter. This could naturally be referred to as an 'old wives tale', but here we think that nature tells us about a lot of things, if only we were to take notice and not listen to politician's outpourings. We obviously have to wait and see.
