I USED TO BE A ROVER.

Having spent sixteen million pounds of our money reporting on the MG Rover debacle, how surprised are we that the Government puts the blame totally at the door of the group who ran the business following the withdrawal of BMW?

A little reminiscing will help us recall the situation leading up to the 2001 General Election, when so much of the nation was basking in the lies of Blair and his cohorts. BMW were happy to offload the Longbridge plant for a token £10.00. Venture capitalist, Jon Moulton, was prominent with his offer to take on MG only; he was right to recognize that the mark is world renowned. The government, however, was not in the mood for logic when there was an election in the offing. So they elected a group of losers to run the outfit, partially at our expense, to get them beyond the imminent polling day. This arrangement continued, along with further cash injections until 2005, surprise, surprise! another General Election. MG Rover was now in it's eleventh hour. The Government, never slow to throw more of our hard earned cash at it, subsidised it even further to get it over the finishing line. Having won the election, it was able to cast the lame outfit to the dogs.

The same government, via the weasel words of Felix Mandelson, is now condemning the very people it put in place to help them mislead the simple public.

LOOK INTO THE MIRROR AND BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF.
