Alan Johnson, a.k.a. 'Postman Pat' makes a predictable move to divert attention from the quagmire that is Westminster, by suggesting that we change the voting system, presumably to proportional representation; the method preferred by the mother of ultimate sleaze, Brussels. In addition, he is showing his head above the parapet in the event of a tussle to replace Brown as PM.

One can recall the late Don Revie, who, in his capacity as football manager at Leeds United, when his team were under pressure, would direct his goalkeeper, Gary Sprake, to point out to the referee that the ball was square. We certainly didn't learn then, one wonders if we recognize such tactics now.
