YES OZZIE, YOU'RE CORRECT.
Further to the previous posting regarding welfare and the Philpotts in particular, Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne is being vilified by the 'usual suspects', i.e the Labour Party, the BBC, the Bishops of the Church of England, not forgetting the extreme left views of the Guardian newspaper. The charge made against the Chancellor is his suggestion that we should engage in debate regarding the easy lifestyle of many of the committed welfare addicts, masses not having ever done a day's work. Heaven only knows where these dim folk of the left exist; it can't possibly be in the real world.
The annual bill for this, in many cases, largesse, runs into hundreds of £billions. The press has tales daily with examples of people claiming for disability, when spotted participating in various sports, with photographic proof. Believe the author, debate is long overdue. There is no intent to include the needy in the proposals; there are always people who are genuinely incapacitated, and will be cared for. We do, however, need to control, in particular, immigration of families of endless children, plus the enormous problem of 'health tourism'.
The one minister in the current coalition government who is doing good work is Ian Duncan Smith. His reforms that came into effect this week were also met with derision by the massed ranks of the aforementioned dim left. Obviously they think the 'willing' should be happy providing for the 'unwilling'; one wonders where in the Bible that such a notion is recommended.
BRING ON THE DEBATE AS THE NATIONAL COFFERS ARE RUNNING ON EMPTY.
