IS HE TRULY A BANKER?

Mr. Bean (Charles), deputy Governor of the Bank of England, is recommending that we start to buy, using our savings, to get the economy out of trouble. This will more than likely kick start another credit frenzy, of the type that got us into the current mess. The pretence that high property prices are good for you, forget it. It will be unlikely that people of my ilk will start to throw money around, coming from the generation that found money much harder to come by; therefore saving is the preferred option.

What we need to consider here, is that most things that we purchase are produced abroad; begging the question, what mileage does the UK get from making other nations more wealthy?

We have to stick with the adage, in this blog, that increased interest rates are the ultimate way forward.

PINKO IS THE NEW BROWN.

Following a late sprint on the unions shirt tails, Minnow, the younger of the Marxist Brothers, aka the Thoroughly Modern Milibands, secures first place at the red flag. Here's someone that you wouldn't entrust with a simple errand, occupying number one spot, in a party that we can't feel confident about doing the nation any good, judging by their record over their entire history.

The particular concerns here commence with the suggestion, that all the union vote was for, was a far left agenda; how many of the membership were asked to vote? Or was it a 'stitch up' by the cosseted Union Barons dictating from their ivory towers.

The character himself, Ed Miliband, is the type of person who could only make it in politics, where he will spout on about taking from the wealthy (worker), while giving, generally, to the waster. Add to this increases in Green taxes and plenty of jobs for the boys and girls, and we have a portrait of an economic simpleton. So if you are one of the few prudent folk left, expect to pay dearly, should the socialists get back into power.

WE'LL NOT LET YOU FORGET A POSSIBLE NIGHTMARE SCENARIO.

A PARTY TURN.

Vinty was at it again this week, slanging our banks, arousing the 'left's state control instincts at the Lib Dem conference. In many respects we could agree with the criticism of the banks, what is being left out of this discussion, however, is the part of the previous Government in the debacle. We have pointed out before in these columns, that unless Incapability Brown was completely ignorant of the situation he was creating by introducing the Financial Services Authority, as described previously. This acted as a fire wall between the money markets and the Bank of England. Allowing the banks to be fast and loose with non- existent funds. This was obvious by early twenty first century, and Vince Cable was nowhere in sight when the writer was pointing out to his bank, that the money being loaned was nothing more than a 'Scotch mist'. Brown, the economic neophyte, was happy to rake in the stamp duty from inflated property prices, plus the VAT on credit driven sales, where much of debt was not met. I'm sure we know what happened next.

At no point am I defending the banks; however, we could walk into a trap if we ignore the fact that 'The City' is the backbone of the economy. Should we introduce laws separating the High Street banks from their investment arms, they will either move abroad, or be picked off by foreign banks.

Nowhere did Vince Cable come up with solutions; pulling faces is not enough.

NOT A WORD FROM THE ANIMAL RIGHTS'S LOBBY.

As ever, the Animal Rights' Brigade is ignoring practices that are anti- establishment. On this occasion, Halal meat. It beggars belief that we are accepting this intrusion into our morality, seemingly without a whimper. The inaction tends to suggest, that any of their demonstrations are only against the majority, not the principle.

Why is it that we can't operate in other countries, following our own set of rules, when it is apparent immigrants can come to Britain and please themselves what they do, certainly on the subject of fresh meat? The writer has never been fond of the thought of bull fighting, that is, however, something the Spaniards have to resolve themselves. On the other hand, Halal meat in the UK is something to which, I take as an affront.

A few years ago, we spent considerable time in Parliament on what turns out to be a complete waste of our money and time i.e passing an act of Parliament in respect of that pest to poultry farmers, the fox.

WHERE ARE THESE OBJECTORS NOW?

A's & A*'s IN ANTE- NATAL CLASSES.

It was hoped, by the author, that a new Government would put the country back on an even keel regarding morals; not a hope! I'm assuming that it is the Liberal influence within the Coalition that is flushing us further down the road to destruction. I am in fear of repeating previous comments here regarding teenage pregnancies, and yes, aware that it takes 'two to tango'. Having already spent a small fortune on contraception, abortion, morning after pills and sex education, unfortunately the only area in which pupils excel appears to be the act of sex, which we're also expected to fund via our taxes. Well let it be known, that I have had enough of all this and would enjoy some support in my objections to this assault on taxpayer GB.

What gives the Government the right to be profligate with this appalling waste of our money, encouraging youngsters to be irresponsible? They can't expect their seniors to pick up the tab forever. The IMF will also be watching carefully.

PRE- CONFERENCE ADVERTISING.

Unconvincing Vince Cable, the coalition's Business Minister, is appealing to the leftists in the Lib Dem ranks, currying favour with those who consider that any reduction in immigration will reduce their chances at the polls. This being without forethought of population expansion.

What is particularly interesting here, is, if we do need more brain power of the imported variety, what happens to our own potentially gifted students, with their increased numbers of A/A* qualifications at A level, pre-university standards. This is, of course, only a mirage, as it is almost impossible to hold an engaging, intelligent conversation with most of this ilk, simply because generally they lack any kind of vocabulary, that is beyond that of the lowest level of TV programmes. So what does happen to this mass of limited undergraduates? A future in the media appears to be favourite. Our local BBC is testament to this dumbing down, it has an army of the aforementioned, all financed from a licence fee on demand.

LET'S HAVE A TEA-PARTY.

We in Britain have had our equivalent of a Tea-Party party for a few years now, UKIP, the proper conservatives. Nevertheless, it is heart warming, that in the US, the Republican Party could be morfing into a party representing the tax payer rather than big government.

We can glean from reports from west of the pond, that Democrats are suggesting this is the breakup of the opposition, such comments normally indicate a sense of fright. In the UK, it would only take a handful of Tories to defect to United Kingdom Independence Party, to sober up our Leader's obedience to the EU. It will happen eventually; unfortunately, we might have to wait for civil unrest before we act upon the future of our sovereign nation.

THE IOWA DIET, AND OTHER MID-WESTERN ACTIVITIES.

We have just returned from a wonderful trip to Kalona, Washington County, Iowa. The trip was for the wedding of a grandson marrying a local girl. This was truly a hometown, homespun welcome. From the moment we set foot in the home of the Bride's parents, we were made unbelievably at home. The diet consisted of as many steaks and as much cake as one could eat, with plenty of options thrown into the mix. The greatest fear was that we would be awoken in the middle of the night to be force fed with the same. At daybreak, there was a deafening silence, rarely apparent in Britain. When we shopped locally, the staff would remark upon our accent; on pointing out that we were there for a wedding, they knew exactly who's wedding it was.

The area contains a large Amish population, who, in general, keep themselves to themselves. We were, however, invited into the home of one family; a rare event for folk outside their faith. This was indeed a privilege. The observer noticed immediately their sense of responsibility and hard work; they are mainly farmers. It is obvious that much of the state is given over to agriculture, pig farming and the rearing of cattle. A friend of the family is studying the genetics of cattle; something that gave me the opportunity to pose the question of his stance on cloning, and was pleasantly surprised to hear his response, which was along the lines of his awareness that nature can retaliate when we get too smart. In addition, he mentioned that many folk in the industry are concerned, that when a magnificent beast appears to win his/her class at the State Fair, the animal can be cloned to keep the success going.

We completed our trip with two days in Chicago: an efficient, clean city. The Metra train service appears to run on time. The system uses double decker carriages, which seems to be a handy way of increasing capacity. The architecture is, in general, of a very high standard, which includes the work and influences of Mies van der Rohe, best seen on a riverboat trip . This was followed by a visit to Buddy Guy's blues bar, to be informed that their greatest support comes from the Europeans, and Bass is available to enhance the visit.

GIVE ME LAND, LOTS OF LAND! (Cole Porter)

The East Midlands branch of the BBC's left wing propaganda machine is currently peddling the old chestnut about lack of land for waste tips. Why is it that we don't get a balanced view, which would require a representative pointing out that we need to reduce the population? All we get, in actual fact, is the ongoing chant for more housing. The powers that be refuse to acknowledge that the two are intrinsically bound together.

Most of us understand the ploy; softening up the population into accepting more taxes to pass on to the EU, or to help fill a really big hole i.e public service pensions and immigration.

It will continue until taxpayer GB says that enough is enough. Let us have our own mantra: 'More green belt, more wheat'.

DON'T FENCE ME IN!
