AN ALMIGHTY SAVILE ROW.
One would have to be somewhere in space to be unaware of the current controversy besetting the British Broadcasting Corporation and its hiding, apparently, of one of the most hideously prolonged cases of paedophilia ever to be revealed. This is developing into one very big row.
For those unclear who is the central character of this story, it is Jimmy Savile, pop 'celeb' and DJ, who passed away in 2011, much revered for his charitable works. Unfortunately, this was probably just a way of getting close to young girls and boys. Much of this despicable activity was performed at the premises of the BBC, and it now transpires that a number of the corporation's staff were involved, and even more knew of these goings on. Spread over many decades, Savile, who had acquired a knighthood for his assumed good works, had been using public sponsored premises, the licence funded BBC, as a base for much of such grubby tactics.
The BBC has form of course. A well respected, elderly broadcaster has made it known that, when he was a young man, the corridors of Broadcasting House wreaked of marijuana. This is a supposed doyen of respectable living, which obviously can't bring itself to denounce drug abuse, because it goes on within their walls.
Like many immature people, 'twenty-plus somethings', and the Beeb has hundreds of them, who get excited at repeating the word 'cool' regularly, for example. They get euphoric about celebrity, but rarely recognise true talent. Well, I'm sure that this needs to stop; let the commercial channels deal in shallowness, if they must. If a licence is required before being allowed to have a news department, then it must be withdrawn. The content is supremely biased 'left wing' drivel.
THIS IS A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY.
