BORIS STARTS HIS CAMPAIGN FOR 2012.

The weakness of what we consider to be democratic is this grovelling to buy votes at all costs. The Coalition Government makes the correct decision to cap housing benefit. This is logical, otherwise landlords enjoy Christmas Day 365 days of the year, at taxpayer GB's expense; much of which involves giving refugees a better standard of living than OAPs, who have paid into the system all of their working days. Boris Johnson, naturally, has a problem here, as he wants as many votes as possible when the time comes for the next Mayoral election in two years time.

The logic always has to be paramount in the thinking of government. What is the most important requirement? It has to be saving money. So the PM is obliged to disregard the bleating of the Mayor, and continue to concern himself more about the rest of us. If he has a problem with this, then he shouldn't hesitate in asking us for our view. The author could be wrong, of course, but I'm sure the majority know what the answer would be.

BRING ON PROPER DEMOCRACY.

ROONEY TUNES.

The rump of the last Labour Government still exists, in part, in the form of Manchester United Football Club. For an organization that can just about service it's current debt, it has suddenly created an economic nightmare all it's own, by paying this low scoring 'striker', along with his agent, shed loads of money. In addition to this farcical situation, we read that the club will further increase it's debt to fund the purchase of additional players, all of which will increase the existing loans to more than 3/4 of a billion pounds. Only a business run on unsound socialist models of such economic impropriety could pursue this course.

We have no need to expound on the current financial difficulties in which the country finds itself, following years of something we'll call 'budget abuse'. However, the Rooney fracas was being played out with the Government's financial review forming the back drop. Strange how an in and out of form, slightly above average footballer demands more, just as the rest of us will be worse off. It is appreciated, nevertheless, that this can only happen as long as the support remains for the game, any game.

Rooney's manager's political left leaning is, of course, familiar to most of us. Something here does not add up; Ferguson can't be that stupid! The denouement could well be, to establish a false value on his erstwhile forward, which might increase the transfer fee, if and when he goes.

SUCH A REFRESHING TALE.

Occasionally, the press will throw up a worthwhile human story. In the supplement of today's MoS, is an account of how a substantial lottery winner could not come to terms with having it all. In late 2002, Ron Ullah and his wife won £5 million on the lottery. In the few years leading up to this stroke of good fortune, they had been struggling with failing businesses, but eventually settled on catering (sandwiches) and subsequently cake baking and retailing; a long way from his earlier business, a construction firm. Following this win, they purchased all the trappings that this amount of money entices these very successful punters to acquire. These acquisitions meant big cars, yachts and properties around the world. This, however, was not rewarding enough for Mr. Ullah, who, having given the original cake business away following their big win, has created another, which keeps him occupied for 12 hours a day, and I'm sure he has got this about right.

Although I haven't won anything on the lottery, or anything else, in approaching my 75th. birthday, I look forward every day to making or producing something, just to satisfy my sense of achievement: these include the two blogs, a weekly community radio programme, and I'm an enthusiastic DIY freak. None of these activities earn me any money, but the sense of motivation is in itself most satisfying.

This ethos compares dramatically with a number of colleagues and acquaintances, almost exclusively from the public sector, who seem to spend much of their time on cruises.

IT'S A DIFFERENT WORK ETHIC, ME THINKS.

FAITH CAN MOVE THIRTY THREE SURVIVORS.

It would be churlish not to recognize as some kind of miracle, the remarkable feat of rescuing the Chilean miners. The alternatives to the total success of the rescue do not bear thinking about.

What is impressive in the light of this success, is the faith of these survivors in the Lord Almighty. What the writer would be keen to learn, is, to whom would the likes of Stephen Fry and Richard Dawkins have turned in similar circumstances?

AMEN.

FORGET BRUM.

The City of Birmingham has decided that enough is enough. No longer do they intend to house immigrants ahead of indigenous taxpayers. The only surprise here is that it has taken so long for people to start thinking about the future. The West Midlands in general, must be full to overflowing, with little to offer by way of meaningful employment. This is a start, we now need to spread our wings and insist on Central Government doing our bidding. Playing along with the incongruous affectations of the Brussels unelected Elite is no longer an option.

There are a number of aspects that we can take into consideration regarding this change of attitude on behalf of City Council; immigrants during the term since the end of WWII are probably beginning to feel the squeeze. We need to add to this, the over population of this once 'green and pleasant land'. If the Green Lobby carries any credence, we must insist upon lowering the size of the population, and returning more land to farming.

THIS COULD BE THE START OF SOMETHING WORTHWHILE.

IS THERE LIFE ON ANDREW MARR?

We can suppose that a socialist, and naturally an employee of the BBC, Andrew Marr feels he can cock a snook at other folk who have legitimate opinions on politics. In my own case, being considerably older and far more experienced on the subject of politics, and not a young spotty singleton; being in my mid seventies, with a number of grandchildren; having always known what the price of a loaf of bread should be. In 1945, during my tenth year, it was easily recognisable that socialism would soon destroy the economy; Attlee's Government did exactly that, and every subsequent Labour administration has repeated the same errors, with a view to winning votes; that would be from the people who take, rather than those who create the wealth.

Presumably Marr was a socialist from his youth. In the more mature, that attitude would be just a passing phase. In his case he was employed by the left wing press and married into a Labour dynasty. All these actions making him suitable fodder for a post at the BBC, the broadcasting arm of socialism. None of his activities, so far, have given him a background of what actually goes on in the world of enterprise, the all important element of any economy. Politics alone is not a subject, it can only be a response to circumstances. The game of politics is created by politicians and the press, to sow seeds in the minds of the gullible.

In Marr's comments, he mentions the anger that exudes from many a blogger, plus the abuse.
The writer's approach is one of getting his thoughts into the public domain. This certainly includes loads of sarcasm aimed at all sides of the political spectrum. The Thoroughly Modern Milibands aka the Marxist Brothers have shouted at me from the day they started to climb the ladder of what is a retarded political concept, socialism; an ethos that continually trips itself up, costing the nation billions; history tells us this fact very clearly.

SHOULD WE BAR MARRS?

A CONVERT.

We live in a world of pseudo Marxist/Socialism, where the health concerns of the nation, along with education, need to be controlled from Central Government, for the Government's own ends. All the parties play the same game, wanting to be the guardians of our health, giving the impression that every other nation is overwhelmed by their inhabitants dropping like nine pins. Politicians love this kind of sham. Education gets a slightly lower rating. Nevertheless, the retarded people in Westminster find themselves running with the status quo, that is, until a maverick enters the fold.

Katherine Birbalsingh, a former left wing activist, last week addressed the Tory Party Conference, to much acclaim, describing what most of us know, that education in this nation is at a very low level; this was more than a Damacene conversion. The Left naturally spin the line that youngsters are so much more clever than in the past, when, in listening to their vocabulary, the opposite is the case. We are aware from TV documentaries over recent years, where various supply teachers have filmed the havoc that can and does go on, in a number of classes. These situations are not dramatised for the sake of the programmes, they are fact. For pointing out this ongoing problem, Katherine Birbalsingh was initially banned from the school concerned, her place of employment. However, parent power soon got her back where she belongs. Unfortunately the eventual outcome meant that she was obliged to leave her post. It is not difficult to imagine how Marxism works when the weaknesses in the theory are exposed.

We should all be getting involved, judging by the Marxist attitude towards someone who is obviously endeavouring to extricate our children from the social engineering that is the platform of our dismal education system. After all, it is obvious that Labour has never wanted anybody brighter than their leader.

THIS IS WHAT ALL FUTURE SCHOOL HEADS SHOULD BE MADE OF.

MINNOW MARXIST NAMES HIS TEAM.

Hot on the heels of Ed Miliband announcing his shadow Cabinet, the BBC probably called in all it's news teams to report on the important list of names who, given the opportunity, would break the nation's finances in record time. The motley crew couldn't produce a suitable candidate to become Mayor of Camberwick Green, eg Postman Pat (Alan Johnson) as shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer; some commentators couldn't understand how Ed Balls (All Ed), was overlooked, they can't see that the clown's finger prints are all over the financial problem we are endeavouring to get out of at the moment.

The rest of the shower would struggle to get a post as tea masher or shoe shine boy/girl.

What is it that brings dim folk to politics? Many of whom have had little or no experience in the proper world. More importantly, what makes people vote for them?

HEAVEN HELP US IF THEY GOT INTO POWER.

MANY YEARS OVER DUE.

How refreshing to hear that a Government Minister, Jeremy Hunt, has come out of the closet regarding the funding of feckless, workshy parents, who appear to spend their time producing endless offsprings to fund a comfortable lifestyle, paid for by the section of society which takes such responsibility upon itself, in many cases, just to scrape a living income. We have regularly written in these columns about this terrible waste of someone else's hard earned cash, very often giving the idle recipient a very cosy living.

There will always be the misfortune of losing one's job. However, to be vigorously involved in finding a new post is vital, even if a change of direction is called for. Naturally, the new leader of Her Majesty's Opposition, Minnow Marxist, has expressed his concern, thinking the move would be heartless; not a word on behalf of the diminishing working sector, who have enough on their respective plates, without having to support the sector that can just demand more for nothing. It is understood that there are more than 90,000 families with four or more children, who live totally on benefits.

It can only be hoped that progress will be made shortly, following Hunt's comment. We have to return to being a nation where fairness prevails, ridding ourselves of this ridiculous situation, whereby families grow, very often sired by a number of different fathers, with a view to increasing income without getting out of bed.

THIS CAN ONLY HAPPEN IN BRITAIN.

BUILT- IN DEBT.

The IMF appears to have noticed that the Brits are paying over the odds for property. This has been the problem for a number of years. Gordon Brown loved these inflated prices emanating from cheap money, which came about from much smoke and mirrors in the money markets; the end result giving the Exchequer loads of bounty in stamp duty. Why, then, didn't the International Monetary Fund point this out early into the new century? There were plenty of us around who sensed that the funds required could not possibly be substantiated. The writer has mentioned on previous occasions, pointing this fact out to his bank in 2003.

The setting of interest rates encouraging the chasing of the debt will always cause disaster. The much earlier posting entitled: HAPPINESS IS AN INTEREST RATE OF 5%, would return the function of deposits and loans, the cornerstone of proper banking.

We need to remember that we are trying to be good buddies with our neighbours in the EU, the very essence of which creates immense problems in pursuing the one size fits all dictats, a policy doomed to failure.

LET THE 'BIG SOCIETY' GIVE US OUR NATION BACK.

SAVINGS! WHO NEEDS SAVINGS?

The more we hear of our education system, the more frightening the facts become. In my home town of Nottingham, in particular, the city councillors want to take the new Government to task regarding the planned expenditure on the proposed school's building programme, which was put in place by the last, discredited regime. These proposals were passed when they realised that the game was up, regarding the appalling stewardship of the nation's finances, and being aware that the chances of their return as a government was virtually impossible. Their action was just an irresponsible minefield, metaphorically speaking. In a news item this evening, we were subjected to the normal sob stories about lack of space and lap tops in schools; being a BBC item, there was no suggestion of lack of money, due to the waste and largess of the last Labour Government. It should concern all of us who have a grasp of budgeting, that people teaching our youngsters have little or no understanding of the current economic catastrophe. We could say that this is no surprise, as their responsibilities are purely to socially engineer pupils.

Let us consider this left wing council that abuses taxes as if the money is theirs. This council lost over £40million invested in an Icelandic bank; it is about to charge city workers to park their cars in their company's private car parks, to fund an extension for the farcical tram system, which will only work when the wind blows. Only last week, this same council was threatened with court action for non- payment of bills, back dated twelve months.

Finally, it is reported in the press, that the Leeds Building Society is having to employ a teacher to correct the poor written grammar of school leavers, and is unlikely to be alone in this move. A friend of mine told me a few years ago, that some of the letters he received from university
students seeking employment, indicated that they would be unable to perform the simple task of taking down 'phone messages. Texting, naturally, is a major problem here.

SOME OF THE GREATEST BRAINS THE WORLD HAS PRODUCED WERE EDUCATED WITH LITTLE MORE THAN A SLATE AND PIECE OF CHALK.
