REYNARD HAS A POINT!

Defence Secretary, Liam Fox, was admonished for his remarks regarding our presence in Afghanistan, "We are here for our (Britain's) security, not to educate the time forgotten land", although not a precise quotation, certainly words to that effect. Nevertheless, the man is right; a politician speaking the truth; if we are to accept his dressing down as correct, we are letting ourselves in for more years of that which we have experienced during the last thirteen. This should also have been a reminder to Obama, making clear that Britain is not his lackey.

The US President needs a nudge regarding the way he is vilifying BP over the oil problem in the Gulf of Mexico. Let us remind ourselves of some facts: Although the rig was there on behalf of BP, it was the American outfit Haliburton who were in control of the platform at the time, and that the structure was owned by a Swiss concern. Because BP have accepted responsibility, he, Obama, due to his unpopularity, is trying to make much political mileage, by suggesting he will ensure that BP will be dragged through every court in the land. One wonders what powers his official 'limo'.
