JUST ENOUGH ROPE.

Although they have lost seats, the Lib/Dems find themselves in a position of power; indeed the role of 'king maker' has been thoroughly bestowed upon them. Obviously being a failure has some advantages.

The connotations of rope and a 'Hung' Parliament seem most apt. As a regular DIY operative, many of my projects are designed with built- in strength by which we could dangle any cabinet member since 1997.

The fascinating aspect of the situation as it stands is a media fest. It really is extraordinary how many people are employed just asking inane questions which will not solve our economic problems. What is occurring is a prelude of what would happen under PR, much horse trading behind closed doors.

What is to be done? Well, if the author were David Cameron, I would give both Brown and Clegg just enough rope to let them hang themselves. Subsequently the market, closely followed by the IMF, would do the rest.

By the way, Cameron's major wrong move was to deny the electorate a say on the Lisbon Treaty. He would have won blindfold had he done so.

IT WAS A GOOD ELECTION NOT TO WIN OUTRIGHT. DON'T PRESS TOO HARD TO GOVERN.
