The locals of Nottinghamshire, UK, will be familiar with the question of the proposed extension to the city's tram system. The new regime in control at County Hall is the revitalised Tory Party, under the leadership of Mrs Kay Cutts. They undoubtedly gained that win because they construed the scheme as a complete waste of money, particularly to the people in the north of the county i.e Mansfield, Retford and Worksop. The benefit being solely for the city of Nottingham. Last Friday, the 10th July, however, BBC local television news ran a major story regarding what was considered to be a 'back tracking' of the new council, much to the chagrin of the author. It was clear, however, that not one Tory was interviewed in this broadcast. Within twenty minutes of witnessing this piece of news, I happened to be speaking to Mrs Cutts at a social function. I challenged her with this hot piece of news, about which she was completely unaware.
This would suggest that the BBC was compliant in a piece of spin by the Nottingham City Council, which is Labour controlled, as a decision on the go ahead is to be made before the end of July.
To clarify the position of the Nottingham City Council. They want to impose a parking charge to people employed in the city, within company car parks.
Add to this the fact that phase one of the tram network is losing money hand over fist. In many cases down to the practice of some users avoiding paying their dues.
ISN'T SOCIALISM WONDERFUL!
