As we are all aware by now, David Davis has stood down to fight for his own parliamentary seat on a point of principle. That principle being the extension given for detaining suspected terrorists. I'm not going into detail here on that grubby exercise in parliament regarding the voting for the bill. The pleasant shock is to find that we actually have at least one 'conviction politician' who has placed his job on the line to highlight the endless injustices that go on at Westminster. Personally, I've got my fingers crossed that it might, with a little luck and a fair wind, trigger changes for the better. The smart conservative should get behind him and back him all the way, disregarding any criticism even from Tory ranks. Our whole system needs shaking up. This could just be the start of something.
