THE TORIES- WHERE DO YOU START

Easy, you start as you intend to go on, grasp the moment, be daring, ask the voting public what they need, be democratic. One by-election win has made hardly a scrap of difference, we will have this shambles of a government around for the foreseeable future, we can only sit tight and watch the shower of incompetent perpetrators squirm. What a pathetic sight watching the PM telling us that our ailments are due only to global upheaval. Strange how the rest of the world had nothing to do with global economics when universally interest rates were low, much too low for the 'Brit', which encouraged the pirate gene to emerge, the vision of cheap money, creating mirages in so many peoples mind, add the overcrowding of a comparatively small island, the combination of the two became a major factor in the current economic downfall. Brown loved the run up to this as he collected the stamp duty along with the VAT on many a credit card purchase where the main item on the bill is, in many cases, still a debt. All the stealth taxes that we have allowed to be imposed upon us in the last eleven years beggars belief. Don't be surprised if he starts to blame the Bank Of England for the situation; he more than likely gave the BOE the powers to set interest rates to make sure his finger prints were not visible when the system collapsed. The most disturbing aspect of this scenario, however, is that swathes of the voting public kept voting for it.

So the scene is set, therefore, to change the direction of the nation in conjunction with popular opinion. Although there are endless things to consider, population has to be a priority. This is compounded by a current news item regarding last years flooding, which caused much sewage to be swept into the sea, please understand it won't be long before we'll have difficulty separating fresh water from sewage. Laugh the Government out of town regarding 'eco towns' or any kind of regeneration. The nation wants it's countryside returned and quickly.

A word of warning, many a true conservative won't tolerate 'blue rinse' socialism. To get me out of the 'none of the above frame' my MP must not vote with the government on major European issues without consulting his constituents and irrespective of the shadow chancellor's freedom on a vote regarding IVF for lesbians. If these are his morals then cross the floor or join the Liberals and understand what the word conservatism means.

"MUMMY AND MUMMY, WHAT IS A DADDY?"

We now know, IVF is an all girl band, no boys allowed. Many of you will be aware that our high street banks are in some considerable trouble if you follow share prices. What does our backward government do, it debates the rights of lesbians to be parents. This is probably the greatest step backwards yet in the era of retardation, spelt s-o-c-i-a-l-i-s-m. If we think that we have a problem with a large section of our youth, fast forward ten, fifteen and twenty years, utter confusion. How will they possibly understand the word natural, those that can will go to the next step of considering nature and what is required for procreation. The liberal argument will no doubt justify this with even more advanced 'in vitro fertilisation', at great expense to the overburdened tax payer, with little thought for the people of advancing years and their ailments. Is this the beginning of the end.

The abortion bill is another area where the public need to be given the opportunity of an opinion. Had a Hitler diktat required two hundred thousand abortions a year we would have called it mass murder. We understand that in a number of cases medical considerations are paramount in the decision to remove a foetus, but the number executed is an absolute disgrace. We are discussing an actual human being here, with as much right to life as the rest of us. If woman don't want children then forego sex, or take precautions, don't expect the rest of us to pay. If this appalling scandal is to continue, the couple involved should pick up the bill. I sincerely hope that our religious leaders keep up the attack on this apology for a government. The ethos also representative of a nation living 'higher on the hog' than it can afford.

To 'senior citizens' in the UK. On my bus pass and probably on yours, it notes that the concessionary travel is funded by HM Government with your local authority. No it isn't, it's paid for out of taxes.

ECONOMICS ON THE DRIP.

We do hope that the UK as a whole understands that our existence is totally reliant upon borrowing, be it as a nation or individuals. This is a practice that has been encouraged for years by the current Labour regime and as inferred in previous articles is considered by them, to generate productivity. A perfect example of this has been the housing market, which is now falling flat on it's face. There has to be an adjustment in the market from the ridiculous to the logical, which hopefully we are now witnessing. This will hurt many people, but not as many as would be affected if the government avoids tinkering.

Early signs appeared a few years ago as personal borrowing started to spiral out of hand. The goverment loved this of course, being in receipt of the VAT from any credit card transaction (much more in the case of petrol purchase). The big 'plus' however was the ludicrous leap in the price of property, enabling the exchequer's tills to be ringing up stamp duty by many a shed load.

The early danger signs were begining to show over a year ago in the share price of Northern Rock. The market will always indicate where there is a weakness, a reasonable presumption would be to realise that the large financial institutions new that the bank was over stretched.

The Financial Services Authority however completely disregarded the situation, this being an organisation instituted by, you,ve guessed, our current PM., who had removed the Bank of England from the responsibility of overseeing such an occurence. We need to consider here the number of personnel employed' at the FAS, presumably doing very little, retiring at sixty on a good pension at our expense. Avoid being hoodwinked by Gordon Brown who continues to blame world market condititions for our woes, never our disgraceful incompetent money markets.

We can't ignore the lack of business acumen of our high street banks. they have acted, like the government, as a bunch of amateurs. Over recent years, having discussed the economy with bank employees, some at managment level, all considered Brown to be a good Chancellor. They couldn't understand how a former timber salesman new better. They of course were probably making good bonuses from this flooding of the market with non existent money. They certainly haven't been making it attractive to save. This could well be the nub of our problem. It's high time to get rid of the notion that we'll all live happily ever after on the back of cheap money which created the false housing boom. The nation won't acquire wealth by selling houses, it will only generate more debt. We have to work to create real wealth. Incidentally, the worker who produces this wealth is the true 'key worker', and foster to a saving environment, protected from a Chancellor who sees such things as a cash mountain to be raided. Brown's grabbing of pension funds was of course the initial move to our present problems. If we are to return to and make progress as a democracy, we have to consider reviewing political decisions and holding these perpetrators to account. Genuinely to make them fearful of such decisions. In addition let's also consider the duration any MP can serve along with a vast reduction in numbers and their 'hangers on'. Let's not just talk about this in the pub, let's take back control of our lives. (KEEP PAYING YOUR TAXES, IMMIGRATION DOESN'T COME CHEAPLY)

STATESIDE

We have, both polly and tickle, been away for the last few weeks to the most westerly state of the states. A wonderful experience. tickle's interest in modern history was somewhat satisfied, following our visit to Pearl Harbour. It is easily recognised why the Japanese saw a sitting duck of a target. I am, however, always impressed how the Americans acknowlede a weakness and can compound it by having it recorded on film, the massive explosion that sank the USS Arizona I would guess came from film from a Japanese dive bomber, the moment is included in an introductory film prior to being ferried to the 'Arizona' memorial site, over which a viewing platform has been installed. From this vantage point it is clear that oil is still rising, confirmed by the rainbow effect of the permanent oil slick. All in all we both found this a most moving experience. The rest of the trip was also pretty impressive. This included cruising by, after dark, Hawaii's active volcano, an awesome site. Mother nature in the raw.

We were there during the current 'primary campaign' which is so obviously generated by their TV News channels, which appear to employ even more 'pundits' than our own BBC does to bore us with the none event football. Nevertheless there are moments to savour. We tended to follow Fox news, which provided us with some considerable wisdom from Bill O'Reilly who, to his eternal credit talks basic commonsense. While interviewing Hillary Clinton, she of the false smile and everything else underhand, he posed the question of why she was persuing a kind of NHS when the two states already practising this benefit were badly in debt, one of the states being her own state of New York. Proceeding, he continued by enquiring why he should pay more taxes to support self imposed ailments such as drug addiction and alcoholism. If only we could have this breed of interrogator instead of the limp 'party line towing' morons. Another impressive performer is the former Clinton aide Dick Morris, who, since reaching maturity, has switched to Obama. He was saying in the middle of April that the Democrats had decided who should be their nominee, that is if you base it on votes (Democracy). The media of course makes money from perpetuating this farce. Morris also came up with the best line following a remark from his interviewer. 'Hillary has experienced eight years in the White House'. To which he pointed out that so also had the 'pastry cook'. Overall you can easily recognise that both Blair and Brown studied at the court of Clinton. Although I couldn't possibly support the kind of socialism of the Democrats, or any type of left wing politics, it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge Obama's immense ability as an orator. Incidently, we didn't speak to one American who rated Clinton.

Our biggest disappointment on our trip was LA. Airport Term.4. Outbound, passing through on a Tuesday evening it was almost empty, however upon our return 6am on a Sunday, the place was packed. I just can't believe that they fly to church. The main problem was the lack of toilet (restroom) facilities. Normally there would be two but with one being out of order this was creating considerable inconvenience.

Finally, Alan and Katina in the land of 'Oz', we hope you had a safe journey home.
