THE PATHETIC FACE OF THE BBC.

Following the previous blog eulogising the Corporation for some outstanding productions, why, we need to ask, does it's populist channels pedal such utter left wing drivel?

In 'THE ACCEPTABLE FACE OF THE BBC', the writer mentioned a second programme involving American, Rich Hall, in which he covered the demise of the 'Western' as a film genre; with a backdrop of either Arizona or Nevada, making references, surprisingly, but quite reasonably so, to our overpaid, pathetic footballers, and the fact that Britons were little more than a bunch of whinging socialists.

Both the comments have considerable truth attached to them. The BBC, via it's news and current affairs programmes, does little else than peddle the notion, that it is only because Britain now has a non-leftwing government that the nation needs to find savings in the budget. As the opposition's and the TUC's propaganda arm, the news broadcasts always lead with cuts to this and cuts to that. How strange that they never spoke of the overspending during the years of the previous government. In reading Robert Peston's books, I find him to be bright on the subject of economics, he appears, however, far more constrained with his TV reporting, as if he is being controlled from above.

We can then consider the Question Time hour; this is so pathetic, as pointed out previously, the loudest applause is reserved for any panel member who wishes to give more of tax payer GB's hard earned cash away, in many cases to the wasters. This week included a couple of such instances. There are evidently, after thirteen years of Labour misrule, in Wales alone, ninety thousand children existing below the so called poverty line. So what? Most children could finish up below the poverty line, if their parents don't do the right thing by them. Socialism implies that children are the responsibility of the state, therefore bypassing any acceptance of a family unit.

The second ruse came in a question based on Union rhetoric; that fifty thousand jobs could go in the NHS. The BBC was, therefore, running a story based on union bile, something without foundation. Although the writer is sure that from the million plus personnel the service employs, many could be shed. We never get a question on the situation of productivity.

DON'T FORGET THE NATIONAL DEBT, £4.8 TRILLION.

THE ACCEPTABLE FACE OF THE BBC.

BBC4 very often broadcasts programmes which attracts this occasional viewer. In recent weeks, the author has seen two excellent documentaries by the American cynic, Rich Hall. The first was about the approach taken by Hollywood when filming stories of the southern states. One of the films discussed was 'To kill a mocking bird', from Harper Lee's novel of the same name, which happens to be my favourite film. Any story about man's inhumanity to man ranks highly with me.

It gets even better; in the last week we had a programme celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the writing of the book, which has sold over eleven million copies. The story in the documentary was told by Andrew Smith who visited Monroeville, Alabama, the home town of Harper Lee and the place where the story was set. Unfortunately, we didn't get a glimpse of of the authoress, she being a very reclusive person. Strangely, she never followed up this success with further novels. As a child, one of her neighbours was Truman Capote; some disbelievers suggest that he, Capote, was behind the book; apocryphal may be, but it remains a winner with this writer.

Another minor classic concerned the story of the King James Bible, superbly told by Adam Nicholson. How strange that something so manifestly brilliant was translated by a committee, but what a committee, the 'creme de la creme'! All of whom were multi-lingual. This, I fear, being poles apart from today's officialdom, which struggles to speak its own language with any authority. The author can bring to mind few people in public life with such an intellect regarding linguistic skills. Currently, Mayor of London, Boris Johnson and formerly, Enoch Powell, who was a master of many languages.

I shall mention the other Rich Hall documentary in the next blog.

ABOUT THE LETTER OF THE WEEK.

This blog is grateful to Bill Etheridge of the West Midlands, who, in a fairly lengthy letter to the press this week, took a stand, albeit with a very English 'tongue in cheek' view, about the imposition of enforced equality; pointing out that the Generals at the head of this politically motivated body, Shami Chakrabarti, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and Mehdi Hasan are in office, primarily, to remind we white heterosexual, in general, normal folk, how privileged and dreadful we are. You can bet that much of their funding comes from the taxes of the section of society which they so often malign.

Mr. Etheridge included in his minor tome, comments on hoteliers; amongst other things, having the right to object to something about which they should be entitled to disagree i.e homosexual activity under their own roof; remember, they were hoteliers long before these abhorrent laws came to be. He points out that the couple can go elsewhere, the problem then being solved by simple market forces.

I loved his concluding comment about going to football matches with his Asian mate, and having a drink with his sexually diverse cousin.

My wife and I recently attended the funeral of a close family friend, who died far to soon at the age of fiftytwo. He was black. We had no need to give him, or his siblings any special dispensation, their parents had already dealt with integrating them into our society, and done a fine job.

ANOTHER AREA WHERE WE CAN FIND SAVINGS.

AN ACCORD.

By far the best press article, read this week by the author, came from a long serving councillor in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. Charles Swift has been on the council for 57 years; in those days he worked on the railway. He was voted onto the council as a Labour representative, presumably with a view to protecting the rights of the working class. Mr. Swift, during that time, has been Mayor of Peterborough but has become disenchanted over the years, due to the introduction of expenses for councillors introduced in the seventies. When he started, there was no financial support, and this is how Mr. Swift thinks it should have remained. In the early nineties he became an Independent, as he observed the main parties were milking the system, which will always happen once the door is open. Posts are created, jobs for the boys and girls, this being the trigger for increased local taxes. Not unlike the Unions, posts are occupied by folk who, in general, could not hold down a proper job. In the case of local government, retiring at sixty on a gold plated pension; cruising into the sunset at the workers expense. Strange how socialism has reversed it's principles.

Thank you Mr. Swift, although the writer's politics are different from yours, even so, as one can see from these columns, we both recognize where the problem lies.

THE BIG SOCIETY.

Although we spend much time criticising the Prime Minister in these publications, his 'Big Society' project is a very worthwhile cause. This should deflect from the ongoing march of government, both central and local.

For far too long, Britain has been living in this ridiculous fantasy world, whereby everything will be delivered unto us; as though none of this has a cost attached. The time has come when we have to look at the situation square in the face, with a view to reducing our taxes. Until the early seventies, we were not subjected to an overwhelming presence of local, petty officials, whose appointments are only imposed upon us for the sake of job creation. Much of these duties can easily be covered by volunteer services. From my own perspective, I have a programme on local community radio, which actually costs me money; this, however, means that I don't have anybody bossing me around, and the programme can be heard worldwide, online. www.103theeye.co.uk every Wednesday at 10pm UK time.

Although I have been retired for over ten years now, during my time on the road, selling timber, one of my clients was a Sikh business man who was an official at his impressive, brand new Sikh temple. Within this temple were three community kitchens, these being available to anyone in their community, facing hard times.

If we fall for the Socialist/Marxist line, all we are doing is funding posts for union members, who just want to cost us more. They in turn are keeping union leaders in the lap of luxury.

WE HAVE MUCH TO LEARN.

THE 'HARMAN'IZATION OF CAMERON.

Why is there so little fuss over the removal of the newly appointed anti-drug supremo, Dr. Hans-Christian Raabe? Evidently, the Doctor is accused of a felony, according to Harman's law, having in the past suggested that approx 25% of child sex abuse is by homosexuals. Strange as it may seem, a Home Office publication of 1998 states, in almost identical terms, the same observation as Dr. Raabe's. The document's figures are from 20-33%.

This infantile action by the Government in the treatment of the Doctor is deplorable. We, of course, could well smell a rat here. There seems to be a stool-pigeon involved; perhaps some individual or individuals who don't want illegal drugs put under more rigorous control. Dr. Raabe was the first appointee to this post with knowledge of the danger of such abuse; therefore being a threat to the liberal wing of government.

The real danger is Harman's equality act, passed on from the previous Government, which Cameron has made law. It appears to this mature person as being on a par with paternity leave.

ALMOST A YEAR IN GOVERNMENT AND STILL GOING BACKWARDS.

THIS SUICIDE WON'T BE PAINLESS.

As the unelected High Court countermands the decisions of the elected Government regarding the building of new schools, which unfortunately would be far beyond what the country can currently afford, perhaps we should look at some facts.

Our starting point needs to be the National Debt, this stands at a nominal £4.8 trillion. We could enquire which part of that debt should be used to fund these proposed schools. When a nation insists on living in the past, basing its actions upon socialist theory, we will inevitably hit the buffers. Those who take an interest in recent political history will have noted that the last Labour regime had a plan of school regeneration, uncosted, naturally. This was a political move, knowing full well that their conniving ploys would eventually cause chaos; so when we have a change of regime in Westminster, they, the Labour Party, think that they have a legitimate reason to sneer at the current Government, crying 'cuts'.

The case was brought to court by a group of councils most affected by this decision of the elected Minister for Education, following guidance from the Treasury with regard to spending taxpayer GB's hard earned money. My home city, Nottingham, forms part of this cosy sextet of councils. The Nottingham City Council, being the outfit that also expects millions of our money to fund the farcical tram extension scheme, something else where cost is rarely mentioned. All of them, including High Court Judges, need to read the book, 'When Money Dies', by Adam Fergusson; which would bring them much nearer to understanding economics and its knock-on problems for a stable currency.

WHO SHOULD RUN A DEMOCRACY?

WILTING WILTSHIRE.

We are now over a decade into the twenty first century, a century which will be the make or break period for the old western democracies. For years we have, for example, been overpaying ourselves, which surprisingly probably assisted in cheapening money and left us with a bloody nose by way of the credit crunch. The author, however, doesn't see credit as the greatest danger; that comes from the stealth led by the fashionable, politically correct (pseudo Marxist) left wing, which will destroy the once revered British way of life.

A despicable event has been reported from the county of Wiltshire, where, at a meeting of the local health watchdog, official Anna Farquhar used the metaphor 'jungle drums'; probably a system of communication and passing of information still used in parts of the African continent. Mrs. Farquhar, who is reported to have an excellent history of public service, has been banned, along with her group, which has had it's funding stopped by the Tory County Council. Mrs. Farquhar was reported by a certain Sonia Carr, in best 'Harmanesque' fashion, to the council, claiming what was said is a racist remark. The council then spent thousands of pounds looking into the matter, no doubt via their vastly overmanned racial equality department, something that should be the first to go in any savings. With due respect to any self respecting snake, Mrs. Carr is a proper 'snake in the grass'.

FURTHERMORE, 'IT JUST ISN'T CRICKET'.

YOU HAVE TO, TO BELONG.

I have always remembered a comment made by one of my scout leaders more than sixty years ago, which makes an admirable title to this item: the subject being health care.

This has triggered my interest in certain columnists' writings regarding the funding of the NHS. It appears that more thinkers are looking at how other European nations help fund their respective health systems. In Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, and nearer to home, Ireland, the patient has to pay a small fee to see their GP. The popular term is co-payment. This is done to make the patient more responsible. Since I have a brother-in-law living in Berlin, it is easier to give a brief view of the fairly complicated German approach. They are, I'm sure, very strict, which probably enables them to minimise the exploitation by immigrants; a major drain on Britain's NHS.

Germany happily runs a two tier system: If one has a suitable income, he or she can opt out of the state run scheme. The private health insurance will deal with all legitimate bills. Breast reduction or enhancement, sex change etc., would need additional charges to be covered by the patient. The state system calls for a patient to pay 10 euros for a GP's services, this seems to cover any further visits during that quarter. Pensioners don't get away from charges either; they are charged a minimum of 1% of their annual income. For chronic illness, this can be 2%.

All these sound like draconian methods, and although we don't see too many 'down at heel' Germans, I'm sure there are plenty. It should, however, be pretty obvious to most observers, that their responsibility, in the long term, gives them more wealth. In the UK, apart from the burden of healing foreigners, who happen to be the only patients who can say that the NHS is a free service, we pay for all kinds of conditions which are down to life style: Abortions, drug and alchohol abuse and tattoo removal; these being just some of the items which should be paid for by the individual.

WITHOUT ACTION, OUR NATIONAL DEBT WILL KEEP INCREASING.

THE CONNIVING OPPOSITION.

As 'Thoroughly Modern' Miliband scratches around, searching for something to say as leader of the opposition, he appears to have settled upon a policy of rewriting history. This will, of course, appeal to the sheep, who wish to be led by politicians brainwashing them to avoid the truth. The case in point is Labour's attempt to mislead over how the younger generation will fare in the future, by comparison with their parents. He, Miliband, has already laid out the playing field, along with Gordon Brown and 'All Ed'(Balls), by making a diabolical mess of the economy during thirteen years of incompetent government; a situation that could last for a number of generations. We nevertheless, will have to listen to him bleating on about the failings of the Coalition, trying to place the blame firmly in their court.

It's a shame that the opposition cannot be a little more constructive; but being an outfit with hardly any business acumen, we can't anticipate anything better.

A BITTER AND EXPENSIVE PILL.

It is interesting to note, that the diabolical experiment introduced during the Blair years, i.e an over the counter 'morning after pill' for teenage girls, has created far more problems, particularly in the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Intelligent folk knew what would happen, but the stupidity of gormless socialism loves to throw taxpayer GB's money around. Furthermore, the number of pregnancies hasn't gone down either. If there were a European cup rewarding the number of teenage pregnancies annually, Britain would win every year.

The concern for this looseness, prevalent in UK society, is something to which we regularly refer in these postings. The university of my home town, Nottingham, has just produced it's report on the subject, following extensive research into the sexual activities of British youth. Apart from the psychological pressures brought about by this promiscuity, which can't be any good to students needing to concentrate, there is the concern which affects us all, the cost. All such information should be published online, as contraception, abortion, plus STD's will not come cheaply. In many cases we have the subsequent child to fund.

WHEN IS THIS NATION GOING TO FACE THESE CONCERNS?
