FORGET ABOUT HOSTING THE WORLD CUP.

The thought of running the Football World Cup in 2018 is such a ludicrous idea, that only a bunch of dimwits would consider such a prospect. It would almost certainly drain more lottery cash away from the worthwhile causes for which it was intended, community sporting and meeting facilities. All such projects were put on the back burner, as 2012 has absorbed so much cash.

The mention of an international footballing festival should make the nation cringe with embarrassment. We carry on as though we are living through boom times. The fact is, that as a nation we are bust. The possibility of rampant inflation is just around the corner. The introduction of the quantitative easing, £200 billion worth, has yet to hit the fan, and it won't be pretty.

It is such a pity that we don't have a government pointing out that we can't contemplate such a notion. Chasing the debt, to appease the natives, is not a way to work ourselves out of this unholy mess, bequeathed to us by Gordon Brown.
