A CHAMELEON THAT IS AWAYS BROWN.

The scene: the Iraq inquiry; enter stage front, the character we normally associate with curmudgeonly roles. On this occasion he was appearing, according to his unusually smiling countenance, as a non-singing minstrel. Judging by his manner, court jester may have been the intention; he is of course about as funny as a mild attack of bubonic plague. However, he immediately engaged the newly fitted Lord Meddlesome 'spin button' and was quickly into his stride, reminding his audience of his virtual philanthropy regarding the funding of the war. This outburst of misleading guff was compounded the following day by a trip to Afghanistan, to promise much new advanced equipment.

We are itching to point out here that politicians take the public to be mugs; the sad aspect of this is that so many of us are exactly that.

COULD THERE BE AN ELECTION COMING UP.
