AT LEAST CAMERON IS BEGINNING TO TALK TURKEY.
The Tory party having allowed themselves to be painted into a corner by events, instead of chancing their arm much earlier, we're talking years rather than months here. When the current bubble in the economy made an appearance around 2003. Making a stink about the debt would have been poo-pooed by the Government and indeed by the gullible public and would still have meant losing the last election but it would have made a substantial mark for the future. In 2003 the author was making noises to his bank that all was not well due to the level of borrowing. This was years ahead of Vince Cable and his irrelevant Lib Dems. On the strength of which, incidently, I don't expect to be the next Chancellor.
As pointed out in a previous blog, neither 'polly nor tickle' can expect a retirement as originally anticipated, as our savings, the interest from which we wanted to subsidise the occasional holiday, has now been denied us. There isn't an alchemist or magician in the world who can change that. That money helps to support banks in the fashion to which they are accustomed. They are only a third of the problem, the others being the weak public, regarding borrowing and finally the appalling bunch in Westminster.
Not only should the opposition be tearing chunks off this reprehensible mob, so should the rest of us. It's time to consider what size of government we require, a third of the current size would be more than adequate. Plus the swathes of nonentities in local authorities. There will never be a better moment than in the run up to the next general election. In our next posting we will make some suggestions.
'BROWNED OFF' AND OUT.
