WHAT A DIFFERENCE A FEW DAYS MAKE.
What started as a damp squib is now smouldering on a slow fuse, rather like a Hoon/Hewitt 'H' bomb, with Brown trapped in his own 'H' Block. Initially, the PM discounted the situation as a storm in a teacup. Could it be that there is more to it than meets the eye? Alistair Darling is certainly acting as though he has been set free and is already talking and acting as such, suggesting openly of the cuts that can be expected in the next Budget. This is, of course, very dangerous ground, it being totally out of context with Brown's Marxist thinking, as the very suggestion will incur the wrath of the Unions, the Labour Party's main source of funding. He will now have to come up with a different tack to buy them off. It is strange however, since Darling's student years were tainted with Marxist ideology; nevertheless, his family's conservative background shows through on occasions.
This latest pantomime (everything that Brown taints turns into a pantomime) is giving the press a field day. The papers this weekend are brimming with disclosures about the administration over the last two and half years. No wonder this 'basket case' of a Prime Minister just throws our money at whatever his favourite project of the day happens to be.
We can only sit tight and await more hideous stories which are bound to surface anytime soon.
THE SITUATION IS BETTER THAN ELECTIONEERING.
