SHOW BOAT. A new production.
The story differs from the original inasmuch as the setting is no longer a steamboat on the Mississippi River, more a gravy train that appears to be able to navigate anywhere in the world. The lead, Gaylord Brown, was much coveted by our newest Lord but he had to settle for director. Our hero, who only last month was deemed by his own party to be a crass loser, has suddenly been able to please his doubters by digging his teeth into Taxpayer GB, feasting on OPM (other peoples money) with considerable relish. He reprises the songs, 'Bill' (as in tax) and 'Make believe' (because he can't believe his luck) endlessly. The suckers out there think he has talent, something being projected by the BBC. Well, let us recap on the main scam from his endless list of faults.
The saviour of the planet's economy would be more convincing had he not ignored the personal debt mountain that had manifested itself by around 2003/4. This was naturally to his liking, producing oodles of juicy 'stamp duty' and VAT returns. This he referred to as productivity, unfortunately funded by money that didn't exist, (chorus: 'Make Believe').
We all sing the finale:
JUST MY BILL etc. (Kern/Wodehouse)
